Use "Character Editor" instead of Prepare Carefully, it works with more mods, has fewer bugs,,,, really the only downside to it is that it's UI is ugly. Once you get used to it however you'll wonder why you never tried it sooner.

Also, you can access it while in the game to fix broken pawns or just flatly cheat if you want to.
