I really recommend just replying to the mod message you got (from inside the system) its not a single person there making a decision, even more the moderator team is not connected directly to the automated system any way
They also do mestikes some times, so replying to the message may help to "clear your name" and also to return the tread possible with a sign that a moderator looked over it and agree for it to continue

In all likely hood someone reported it, mod seen the photos and ban you without really reading context as much or something, replying to the ban message is likely to get them to really read an then decide from there
