A perfect example of what the golden age of cRPGs was. The game has room for improvement, for sure. But hits you right in the nostalgia. An excellent balance between QOLs features and retro experience that a lot of developers could learn from.
Definetly a Favorite. This game is an act of love, and it shows.

Pros>
*Great Adult stroryline. ( A good Sword and sorcery throwback, Ultima+gold boxes mix.)
*EGA and some features are lovely. (Do you remember what a CRT looked like? Give it a shot)
*A decent challenge in terms of Difficulty
*The Carnivale in Firgol. (Its in chapter 4 - A masterpiece.)

Cons>
*No handholding. (Could be a turndown for people. - I.e> NO Minimap)
*Magic feels rushed, and either OP or just lame and weak.
*Feats (Skill tree) have a lot of Point sinks that do nothing.\
*Random encounter can GET tedious. (Can be disabled)
*Inv Management is a pain, IT gets cluttered real fast.

Edit: Just finished the Carnivale and needed to state that it was masterfully executed. Simply lovely.

While the game itself is good, I feel it is victim of the predatory corporate tactics that rule the business nowadays.

Microtransactions in a SP game?
Pay for fast travel, and convenience items?
Denuvo? (Like, Some execs probably own a decent share of this bloatware, otherwise there is no real reason for including it on your games.)
No New game for PC players. (either oversight, poor planning or just corporate greediness)

Overall a good game tarnished by bad choices.

Oh man, there is little I can say that will bring justice to this game.

Really, the game is a jewel, that every RPG lover should play at least once.

Is not a short game, nor will handhold you. The Story is AMAZING, and will keep you glued to your seat until you finish it.

The music is simply superb, the characters amazing, every single chapter will keep digging more and more into the story, until you are simple in a OMG state.

By the end of the game, if you grinded a bit, you will blaze thru the content, and ITS FINE. By that time, you deserve it, and brings the game to a great conclusion. Simply cant wait for the next installment or the DLC.

If you have a few days, sit down, grab your pad, and enjoy this masterpiece.

Meh game, if you don't have anything else to play, may be good. Feels like a poor man Dark souls, Linear, bland game play. Mp is a joke, and frankly, feels like it was a last minute add on. Maybe as a SP game would provide a better experience.

Performance wise, didn't have any issues, but the graphics are nothing to write home about. 5/10

Edit: Since one of the devs Reached out and answered the post, I feel I wouldn't be fair to left out some of the stuff I liked.
Edit2: Finally finished the game, updating.

The Good:

- Lamp Puzzles. New mechanic to the genre, its cool but a bit overused.
- Aesthetics, Graph quality aside, I LOVE the aesthetics of the game.

The bad:
- MP feels off, failed several times, and not really interesting. (Not being able to leave the game, is also annoying).
- Seems a lot of people had Tech issues.

The ugly:
- Jumping puzzles, without being able to jump. (a la DS3, after )
- Some of the "Revenge mechanics" could be explained better.
- NG+ Feels really bad, just tedious with artificial challenges just to keep the game alive longer. A "The end" just restart with another character, may have been more interesting.
- Enemies scalling is super weird, you just go around killing the same enemies the whole game, they just get artificially harder (More HP/DMG) as you progress, feels like a poor design choice, considering that the game usually swarms you with mobs.

Overall:
I still stand by my original score, Its a very competitive market, and while the game introduces a few new mechanics, its still average at best. Like an odd offspring between Nyoh & DS series that gets repetitive and just tedious.

Honestly kudos to the team, this is an awesome game.

Love the Series. I´ll admit that I was not too happy on Day one DLC, but the game is great.

What can I say that others have not?
Its a great idea, poorly executed.

From a franchise PoV it fails to deliver a "D&D" experience. (If you are giving me stats, why not at least sync it to real D&D Scores. FFS just add 10 to that and Id be happy.) This shows both lack of understanding of the product they should have delivered or the market they were targeting to.

From a technical perspective, its unpolished. Probably needed a month more before releasing. It promises being a fun game once some of the bugs are ironed out, the fact you need friends for actually make it fun is also troubling. (Solo play is JUST TERRIBLE, don´t waste your time there, heck even LFD was fun in SP).

I´m not sold. And while it may sound exaggerated, as a PC gamer, I think even CP2077 was better at launch than this.

I´ll update this review once the game gets a few round of Patches.

Amazing Game! Really enjoyable

Loved the first game, this is really awesome. I admit that at first, i missed the 2d approach, but i was really suprised how engaging this game is.

I only regret that there is no hot seat option.
