Not a flashy game, but solid. Can definitely see that it took bits and pieces from several earlier RTS games, especially Banished, which is by no means a bad thing. It makes picking this game up a bit easier. If you're into colony managing, it's an alright game. My critiques are few but lengthy. First and foremost, it is SLOW going. Unless you really go into high gear and rush techs, it'll take you 5+ hours just to get to the copper or bronze ages (the 3rd to last and 2nd to last ages, respectively) and that's if you keep the game simming at 8x speed. Also, understand that aside from achievements or personal accomplishment, there really is no goal/endgame. It just kind of tails off. Also, except on the much harder difficulties, raiders will almost never pose a legitimate threat. Sure, they may kill a few dogs and a few people and knock down a tower but that's about the extent of their damage.

Overall, a solid 6.5/10. It's not the best RTS colony sim out there but it's by no means the worst. It still has plenty of room for improvement if the devs ever did decide to add more. That being said, at full price ($20) I would not buy it. Wait until it's on sale for $10 or less.

The story and game itself have great potential, similar to the other Dark Pictures games, however this game as of release is a buggy, near-unplayable mess. A few bugs is one thing, but some of them are so major, they don't allow certain characters to live. I cannot recommend this game until it's patched.

They have been working on this game for years and it shows. A little tough to understand at first but once you get it, it's a blast (pun intended). For such a simple premise, you'll have tons of fun trying different things. Hopefully one day I'll land on another planet successfully!

As a huge Lord Of The Rings nerd, I greatly looked forward to this game when it was released back in the day. I beat it back then, beat it again, and now after replaying it once more to prepare for my Shadow of War playthrough, I've seen enough to give it an honest review.

It's a very very OK game. Nothing that will blow you out of the water, but it's not bad by any means. The pros for me would be the story (obviously) because it's compelling, albeit slightly convoluted. I also appreciate the in-game lore. You can know nothing about LOTR lore and get on just fine in this game but if you're a lore buff, they do a nice job of placing little nuggets of info here and there. Granted, this game is not canon to the LOTR lore but it stands on its own well enough. And while it needs some tweaking, I do like the nemesis system. It adds character and depth to characters who would otherwise just be nameless, faceless cannon fodder.

The cons are few but lengthy. While developed by different development studios, some of the same individual developers worked on this game as well as Ryse: Son of Rome and the Arkham games which is apparent upon starting gameplay. The combat, while seamless and a step up from Ryse, still leaves a bit to be desired. I wouldn't say I disliked it but rather was indifferent to it. It could be improved but it wasn't bad. I also thought the playable area was a bit small, which I'm hoping was improved on in Shadow of War. It doesn't feel like you're exploring the great vastness of Mordor, it feels like you're exploring the corner of a corner of it. Lastly is the graphics. They were OK for the time but could've been better.

All in all I'd give Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor a 6/10. There's not really a ton of replayability but it's worth dumping 20+ hours into a playthrough.

If you remember the old Age of War flash game, it's like that but on steroids. Easy to learn, harder to master. Very fun, I imagine this having multiplayer in the future would be awesome. There's some bugs and balance issues here and there, but it's an early access game so it's to be expected. Still, very fun. Bought the supporter pack after giving it a try because I think this game can really be something special, 8.5/10

Expectations were subverted and exceeded. Supermassive took criticism and suggestions from the first two games in the Dark Anthology series and applied fixes and upgrades to this game and the result was the best game in the series so far. The ability to choose your difficulty also makes the game much more intense. Everything is improved compared to the other games. The story was great, maybe not my favorite in the series so far but definitely took me for a spin. Every time I thought I had the story figured out, there'd be a new twist which resulted in the end with one of the biggest twists in the series, if not THE biggest. There are still a few bugs and issues to iron out but all in all, would highly recommend. My only slight critique, and it is slight to be sure, is that there are times where the game pauses, sometimes for an oddly long time while interacting with objects which can be a bit annoying. Also, I haven't had this happen with the other two games but there were times where it seemed like my co-op partner was seeing things and cutscenes before I did, as if the games were desynced just a bit. But that's it. I very much enjoyed this game. A $30 price mark is still a little steep in my mind for these shorter games, but this is also the first Supermassive game I paid full price for. 8.5/10

Minor spoilers ahead: I won't spoil who/what happens, I will just say that be prepared for major twists. Unlike the first two games, this isn't a hallucination. This isn't all in your head. This is real and once you realize that, it becomes even more terrifying. The whole first couple of acts, I kept trying to piece the puzzle together, thinking it was like the first 2 games. It's not.

I've played hundreds, if not a few thousand games in my life. Of all those games, this is most assuredly one of my absolute favorites. I went into this game with no expectations, all I had heard was this was supposed to be a very very good game. The first several hours I spent starting and restarting, learning the mechanics and what does what and all of that and eventually it clicked and when it did, an adventure began the likes of which I've never experienced before. I am happy I waited until I had a beefy PC to play this game at max settings in all its glory too. My only real critiques are that I wish the map was just a tad bigger and the physics were a little less buggy. Beyond that, this game and its story are near flawless. A life changing game I would suggest any gamer play at least once. Thank you for the memories Arthur, enjoy Tahiti <3

UPDATE: after finally sinking significant time into RDO, I feel like I can give an honest and fair review.

It's a money-grubbing grind fest similar to GTA online and if you don't want to grind, you can gladly pay to get ahead. The story missions aren't bad, but most others are just radiant fetch missions or your standard guard this/take that/steal this jobs. What's more, in order to access more missions and features in the game, you actually have to pay a significant amount to buy "kits" that'll allow you to partake, and then in some instances (Blood Money) you have to pay just to do missions. If you're OK with grinding mostly for cosmetics, or want to RP, this might be up your alley. Otherwise, spend your money elsewhere. I would gladly pay $200+ for the RDR2 story. And I'd gladly pay $20+ to forget RDO exists.

UPDATE: after giving the game another playthrough the other night, I felt I needed to add that after mulling over it for a while, Red Dead Redemption 2 is probably my favorite game of all time currently. I just cannot recommend this game enough.
