Review Showcase
At the time of writing this review I'm approximately 100 hours into the game, probably putting quite a bit more into it.
RS2014 is a great tool for practicing songs and jammin' to your favorite tunes or just general noodling with your instrument.

Most of the time I'm spending on the "learn a song" mode where you can play songs normally, if I want to practice some part of a song I fire up the Riff Repeater which allows me slow down the song and practice it bit by bit. The official DLC's are mostly very accurate and the option to add your own Custom DLC Song Pack adds an infinite amount of replay value.

Some negatives about the "game"

The note registration doesn't always register when you play something correctly, but on the other hand sometimes the system registers the more sloppy playing as correct.

Lack of support of extended range instruments, no 7+ string possibilities, and the same for bass.

Some of the minigames feel kinda gimmicky.

The "custom tunings" tag should be able to change to show the songs tuning right away, so you wouldn't need to check it manually by starting the song, these are little things but could be easily changed.

Also the hardware DRM (official USB cable) is easily breakable and expensive. An option for using own interfaces would be great, this would eliminate the need of the 30 euro (Ubisoft cmon :D) USB friggin' cable.

All in all the positives defeat the negatives and Rocksmith 2014 is a fantastic platform to hone your shredding muscles to tiptop shape.
