I wouldn't really recommend this installment of Farcry even though I have been fan for the franchise for a while now. The reasons being:

Gameplay
- The gameplay and combat in 5 differs very little from 4 and if anything takes some elements away from what was introduced in previous entries of the franchise. The flying mechanic feels clunky and stiff. The driving mechanic is practically unchanged from previous entries. There is a somewhat limited weapon choice. Multiple repeated locations and events throughout all 3 zones really does get very repetitive very quickly. Additionally, all of the zones follow the same structure with very little difference in the way that you progress through them. This does get repetitive quite quickly
The follower/companion system is cool and even in single player the experience and story associated with the followers is enjoyable to do but in my opinion it really isn't enough to drag all the aforementioned issues the gameplay has. The only element I have no issue with in Farcry 5 is actually the music as I overall thoroughly enjoyed it.

Story
- Farcry 5, in my opinion, has a completely abysmal narrative with an incredibly unsatisfactory conclusion. Without giving away spoilers, none of the main antagonists' actions match their words as the way the world works contradicts what their needs out of the main character supposedly are. Despite stating that they want the Deputy alive, they repeatedly send in their best warriors to try and kill him). Additionally, while the motives of the different members of the Seed family for wanting the main character alive are different, they all follow the same pattern of capture the main character, and make him go through scripted events and repetitive levels. Because of this, all of the zones feel like carbon copies of one another with the exact same narrative. Finally, there are 3 endings to this game, without giving away any details, I’d describe them as such:
1 - You walk away, don’t achieve your final task and all of your work thus far in the game is more or less wasted. There is a twist to this ending but it just ♥♥♥♥♥ you over even more if I’m honest
2 - You pretty much get completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over in the worst way possible – absolutely 0 good this about this ending as everything just goes to ♥♥♥♥ in a blink of an eye.
3 – At a specific point in the game you can choose to walk away reminiscent of Farcry 4’s alternate ending. This is arguably the ‘best’ ending for the protagonist which says a lot about how unsatisfactory the other ones are. Additionally, it felt a bit cheap copying the gimmick from the previous entry in this one
I do give credit to the previous Farcry entries that make none of the conclusions completely satisfactory. However, whereas previous installments provide nuance to their conclusions, ( SPOILER ALERT) in Farcry 5 there is no scenario in which the antagonist loses or even dies. ( SPOILER ALERT)
Overall, this leads to a completely unsatisfactory conclusion for the game as, at the end of the road, it feels like all of your work is for naught. No previous entry in the franchise has been this bleak in its conclusions

Bugs
- The bugs, while rare, I did experience a fair chunk of minor bugs throughout my time playing - npcs glitch-ing through walls, making you unable to fire at them, but they can see and fire at you, vehicles glitch-ing through the environment, enemies becoming untargetable for no explicit reason, important npcs on missions not following/leading you to the required location etc. On one or two occasions I also had to restart the game as the npc I had to kill/follow vanished completely randomly in the middle of the mission
