Majestic peacock people, eyeless fae dragon people, crested caterpillar people, four armed terrorbird people, black chitin'd NOPE people, and ropy hydra people.

What's not to love, other than it's free? Good little bit to spice up your playthroughs, especially for how unique all these new appearances are.

So now that the servers are working, I've had some time to play more to discover what the game is about.

For starters, you will need a clan to to have some semblance of security to not get torn apart by raiders looking to swat anything that isn't them, and even with a clan, you're still liable to get your rear handed to you. With this in mind, you are going to be forced to get involved in the politics, which mainly involves over paranoia from other groups, which can keep your clan quite tense and stressed.

The most jarring aspect is the Tablets system. To be able to progress higher up, you are going to need to hoard Tablets, which to gain them, you must take 100 fragments and go to either a one use only machine that spawns randomly on hard maps, or an always noticeable permanent Tablet machine. Using these machines will often have you camping out at these things while they work, which the permanent variety will essentially paint a large bullseye on you for raiders camp and whack whoever wishes to refine their fragments.

The progression system can be best described as a house of cards. You spend hours of effort and time trying to keep your tablets safe as well as keep producing tablets, and in a span of 6 minutes it can all be destroyed and taken. This has created a dynamic in which the status quo is for clans to keep ruining each other's progress so that nothing gets done, unless you happen to have joined a megaclan, that may have its own politics involved that you might be forced to tow the line in, even if they aren't to your benefit.

All in all, these dynamics instill a sense of futility in your endeavours, in which this game upon that realization can be best described as depressing. If you're looking for a game with consistent progression... Save your money.
