Early Access Review
While still in early beta, Starbound has a good amount of content going for it and has a lot planned. Starting out can be a bit rough, but the handful of starter quests help give the player some direction. Part of the difficulty, as well as part of the fun, is figuring out which monsters are friendly and which are hostile on each planet you travel to before they decide to maul you. The monster generator can create a wide variety of creatures and they can be neutral or hostile and you won't know until you're almost in melee range. Aside from blood thirsty monsters, cultists, and angered guards, there are other threats to one's safety as you travel the galaxy, these being environmental hazards (acid rain, pools of poison, traps in dungeons to name a few), the ever present threat of starvation, the need to be adequately prepared for oxygenless worlds, and the danger of simply freezing to death. With so much trying to kill you, there's usually something you can be doing to stay alive.

Along side the official content that's in the game already, the developers have made it extremely easy to add (and to an extent make) mods to the game. This brings the amount of content to another level entirely as there is an active community thinking up and making mods that can be downloaded from Starbound's mods forum and the Nexus websites.

I do recommend this game if you've enjoyed Terraria and/or Minecraft, but only if you are willing to put up with the occasional bug due to still being in beta (and stay away from the unstable/extra beta builds) though the stable builds are a safer bet if you're game.
