I want to preface this review by saying that I’m a long term Dragon Age fan. Ive clocked over 500 hours on Inquisition, 300ish hours on Dragon Age 2, and over 1000 combined hours for Dragon Age Origins when you take both pc and console hours. I’m a fan of the series. And as a veteran fan I can say that this is indeed a Dragon Age game. So far a good and enjoyable one.

It took me a bit to get used to but the combat feels fluid and responsive, striking a nice balance between tactical decision making and visceral action (Although I will say I am playing a mage and don’t know how the other classes have the same nice feel to them). I particularly enjoy the new specialization and skill tree system, which allows for more customization and unique character builds as well as a ton of replayability in the future. The story and companions I havent seen too much of yet, but what I have seen is good and I quite enjoy speaking with said companions and interacting with the world.

People are very critical of the game atm and that’s fair. It’s been 10 years and nothing short of 10/10 GOTY will stop the feeling of being disappointed. Completely natural and fair to feel that way after so long without the franchise, youre more then justified when you critique the games flaws or systems. I will also say that there is a disgusting amount of people who are just here to hate on the game because thats just what they do. Easy to see these reviews too as they typically have less then an hour of gameplay and have written paragraphs on why the game they didn’t play is bad. Anything 1-3 hours is still a bit sketchy but I can somewhat respect playing for that time and putting a game down if it’s not your cup of tea.

I will update this review as I get farther into the game but TLDR right now I feel cozy Dragon Age vibes and am having a blast with the combat especially. Ive had no game breaking bugs or crashes and Im on a 12yo CPU so I’ll also add in well optimized to the list of things I like about the game. So far I highly recommend.

But seriously ive been playing this game non stop since the free weekend, and ive got to say im in love. Pretty much if you like Dark Souls PVP chances are you'll love For Honor since both are highly enjoyable, but also will make you have an aneurysm because you also need to learn how to Git Gud. As to all the server complaints, i am pretty sure people are just hopping on the hate bandwagon for this game, ive had no server issues at all in over 2 days of gameplay, which i can understand since P2P isnt the best system for people who live outside the us and use these servers.

Lastly if you're new like myself, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you use the training mode. It helps a lot especially since the higher tier bots are most of the time better then the actual players you'll go against.

Overall the game has flaws like anyother game, but the main reason you buy this game is for the combat which is superb and immensly satisfying abeit a little frustrating at first. Also 60$ is alittle pricey IMO but it is at least worth 30-40 maybe even 50-60 if this type of game is your god.

8/10 Solid Game

I love this game to death, but the vanilla version gets boring after awhile. I fyou get this game you must be aware that it is made to be played with mods and oh are there so many. Seriously this game is a modders paradise ive seen so many from a roman themed mod, to modern, and even a game of thrones mod GAME OF THRONES!. Also the mods come with additional options like battle formations or more economic options which really flush the game out even more. On the last note remember even if you want to be king, a bandit, a vassal, or a peasant with god like powers youre still going to lose all your stuff over and over and over and over...
