If you're looking for an intriuging and challenging audio-synchronized experience, you won't find it here. Beat Hazard is instead an isometric space/arena shooter that paces everything, from the intensity of your fire to the pacing of enemies to the seizure-inducing screen effects, to the intensity of your music.

It's a pleasant game for when you want to zone out and enjoy sound and color. There's not a lot there, but it's a pleasant enough game. You're more likely to die in many cases from having trouble determining which bright flashing thing is going to kill you than from legitimate in-game challenges.

"Shadow Missions" and perk unlocking add a mild sense of progression to the game, but otherwise no storyline or plot exists. I enjoy the game as a sensory experience, rather than an immersive otherworldly indulgence or hyper-challenging gameplay quest.

At the time of this writing, Destination Sol is effectively abandonware; the creators have posted an update stating that they'll basically just give it to someone who wants to develop it further--even monetize it. With some modest RPG elements, 10M is a cheap date with some admittedly frustrating areas relying more on luck than skill, but since there's no try limit or any such thing, all you have to lose is time. And you're here, so...

If you have any conceptualization of what a Roguelike is (Diablo? Torchlight? NetHack?), then Dungeons of Dredmor is simply a must-play. If you're anyone else, but can appreciate jokes about lutefisk, Carl Sagan, and the dangers of Emomancy, you should still play it. It is probably the most value for the dollar that I have ever gotten out of a (cheap!) game, and you can too.
