I must admit I came to this debate unprepared but what I want to do is talk about what I see as Australia's greatest challenge. I actually wrote a paper on this some time ago. Australia has faced many challenges in the past. I guess the first great challenge this nation faced was the First World War when arguably the First and Second AIF constituted the greatest soldiers this nation has ever seen. Many were slaughtered and that denied to Australia a lot of the leadership that should have been here for the development of this country.
