This is the best ARPG that I have ever had the ability to play. The story is far more present and well-written than the first game, fantastic voice acting, amazing depth while now much more approachable to those who don't want to go that deep into it, difficult but fairly so, requiring you to change and consider differing strategies instead of having a one-size-fits-all solution. The list goes on and on for a game that just released in early access. The focus on play expression and the ability for you, with enough effort, to play the game in virtually any capacity you could imagine, is something that almost no game I have ever had the fortune of playing has gotten to the level of.

Want to play a dual-wielding tank that afflicts people with myriad debuffs without focusing on damage? You can do that.

Want to play someone who calls down lightning storms and has them enhance a minion army in the same breadth so they become a nexus for your elemental prowess? You can do that.

Want to be a shotgun-range ranged character that zips in close, blasts someone, then escapes? You can do that.

The potential they've shown for this game is incredible, and I highly recommend this to people who are new to ARPGs as well as to people who have played them. This game provides an experience that is highly customizable, incredibly fun, and with the ability to play together with up to five other people, really allows you to *sink into* the game in a way that feels almost foreign to the existing gaming landscape.

I felt almost compelled to write a review for this as I progressed.

For context, I have not played a game in this genre outside of Pokemon games and Monster Sanctuary, which both have their own appeal. Keep this perspective in mind.

I started this game out with no knowledge of the studio or the game itself, and was quickly shown the level of depth that I could work with upon character selection. Selecting one of the available classes had blurbs about the themes they worked with, and at the time I was unaware you can actually unlock all the classes on the same save (plus some 'elite' classes later on).

Combat starts off simple as they begin to inform you of the world you're in and why it's important. Your starting creature is depending on class, but something caught my eye as I got my first perk points. Looking at the 'perks' a class can take with said points, my jaw fell agape as I began to understand the first layer of depth to this game. The amount of choice and versatility with which you can approach the game is simply STAGGERING, and I continue to see its ceiling expand as I play the game more.

Do not misunderstand me, though, this game does not require a doctorate to play. You can play the game very simply, and the spells and abilities creatures have give you the freedom to focus your strategy on either accomplishing a certain goal or letting RNGesus take the wheel. If you want something simpler, classes like Hell Knight and Siegemaster have a much slower paced playstyle. Later on in the game where it introduces affixes you can deal with by upping realm instability for greater rewards, creatures you have and your opponent has can get a bit complicated. If you don't want to manage the moving parts, there are abilities to lock out extra traits, extra spellcasts, extra revives, the works.

This game gives COMPLETE freedom when it comes to how much you want to do and how much your opponent can do. Only want to see people attacking or casting once a turn so you can fight 'fair' with them? Satyrs are great for that. Need to make sure that debuffs aren't a problem for you? Countless manually and automatically cast spells as well as a slew of monster abilities can do that. The list goes on. If you have a style, in some capacity, this game can manifest it and let it thrive to the fullest extent.

*slight spoiler ahead* The game becomes even more interesting with the Anointment system, which allows you to take passives from OTHER classes and have them active on your own class, with notable exceptions like certain perks, Animator, or Grovetender. This means that your own teams, your own class, are entirely yours to make from the ground up into anything you want. Creatures also naturally have synergy with each other, so customizing classes and teams to fit a theme can work well for those who have a great interest in teambuilding synergy (like me) or those who just want to say "I like Doomguards, they're cool, I want a Doomguard team!"

This game allows for a wide variety of experiences. Simple, complicated, spellslinging, debuffing, buffing, stat boosting, stat draining, and so on and so forth. I highly recommend giving this game a try, as this has become my favorite game to play whenever I want to feel like I am both being challenged and having fun.

TL;DR: This game has almost everything for a game of its genre. It has the ability to create almost any strategy you can imagine with combative depth and has strong controls for manipulating how much RNG you want to go into combat. Combat system is solid and this game has hundreds of hours of combat and ways to approach the game multiple ways. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This game presents a lot of options for those who end up enjoying games like Diablo, Path of Exile, and others of its type. It shows quite a bit of promise, and I have simultaneously found myself delving deep into the skills, interested to see what I get next, and on top of that, going back to skills I have had for a long time because of synergies and possibilities that open themselves up easily. Your versatility of builds is incredible for each class, and I very much look forward to seeing how this game develops. It shows a lot of care and promise so far.

I enjoy this game quite a bit! Very well made MOBA game, lots of detail and strategy to it, I dig it.
