"BURSTER!" bellows the preacher and seamlessly the two veteran snipers snap around to target the new threat, we're holding a control room desperately trying to repulse a growing horde as the data interrogator the tech priest gave us does... something. Suddenly a message flashes, whatever it was doing, it's now doing less of by a significant margin. One of the snipers breaks off from the fight and dashes over to try and get things moving, almost wordlessly the team moves to cover him, and after a few false starts it gets going. Our move from defending the entrances has allowed the enemy to gain all 4 bridges and as a result the flamer sneaks up on us. Being forced back by the flames the preacher triggers their special attack and clears a path, the tech priest announces we're done and we begin beating a hasty retreat as ragers and gunners begin taking a toll. The slow retreat towards the evac descends into leapfrog actions, first the preacher needs rescue and then one of the veterans. Finally I'm stood on the pad pouring fire into the horde as the team evacs, honestly a brilliant moment.

Now the bad, the game crashes, it's badly optimised, unbalanced and currently there are only 4 maps. Part of this is due massively to being a beta, does this mean the launch will be seamless? Heck no, is your enjoyment at least a little dependent on the team you get but the potential for massive fun is there. Deffo reccomend

This game is like a chess game, no I'm lying it's like the board game pandemic, no wait it's like hearts of Iron 4 actually no it's sins of a solar empire. Okay This is all of those things and more, it creates a beast that takes some of the best things of so many games and blends them into some concoction that is nothing else. I'm going to be clear, this game needs you to pay at least a bit of attention, it will not be quick. If you want a quick strategy game, look elsewhere.

I can't really explain the game without describing my demo playthrough. I picked up the game with the intent to break it, I grabbed Guatemala (don't ask) early on and set out to slowly grow it. As I was waiting and harvesting I spotted that Canada was open and up for grabs! I lined up my 2 diplomatically inclined councillors and swept in, in a single mission cycle I had control of canada. With this I now focused on growing a military and most importantly space race points! Researching the deep system research revealed the depth and breadth of the alien presence, my neighbours the academy were devastated as their cause was made to look a bit naive. And as a result their control points in the US were laid bare, my hardened commando swept in and began overturning their control. Whilst I was doing this the Alien lovers were flipping South and Central America (barring the mighty bastion of Guatemala), the USA is famous for having at least a modest army. So using this I bulldoze through Central America. Now using these resources I began setting up a station with the intent of colonising the moon, a war broke out between Iran and China and the exchange of Nukes began heating the planet. Meanwhile the aliens began appearing in greater and more titanic numbers. My forces in central america were devastated by a rampaging... umm... thing. The world teetered on a precipice and that is where the demo ended for me. I am completely obsessed right now, the amount of moving parts is remarkable. I look forward to exploring it and seeing how the developers grow the game. Brilliant.

By the way there appears to be a number of Steam reviewers from a specific Asian region upset that another region is shown independent. There are bugs, this game is in early access. I imagine there are CTDs too but please understand that not all the reviews are being posted with sincerity.

10 minutes into my first match I'm cowering in a shell hole, I've killed an Austrian soldier and I'm crouched next to his corpse. His last moments were spent moaning in unendurable agony, the entire screen is shaking thanks to an artillery barrage. As it fades I hear the unmistakable sound of advancing soldiers, to my right is a small hedge and I shift over into it. First one then another Austrian appears and I allow them to filter past me, two shots dispatch them just as allies appear. A friendly officer stops by me as I get the bandages to heal him, in the background other men appear building defences. Our counterattack gains weight and with a roar we charge, at least 2 men go down straightaway but we gain the next trench area. Before I know what is happening gas shells begin popping with a sinister hissing, I scramble my gas mask on and the sudden arrival of gas reduces the long range battle to a dreamy close quarters haze. I get ganged up on by 4 enemies and my time is short as a result. As I lay dying I take a moment, all i can think is what a bloody brilliant game. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

A brilliant brand new perspective, I had burnt out on the fame many years back but the VR perspective has completely refreshed the game. It can be quite physical if you choose to play it standing up that adds a huge amount of immersion. The modding support is amazing too. Did overheat my oculus on a few occasions but not really a surprise. Otherwise no tech issues

This is... an incredible game. I want to just tell you a story of my last mission. It is a typical go in and grab the *REDACTED SPOILERS* and get out. We get the first item, my terminators loping forward soaking up the damage whilst my purgators melt the enemy in a hail of fire. My glorious deed of killing 8 enemies with ranged fire ticked off quickly. I kill a second patrol and damage begins to rack up, I regret the lack of apothecary and only bringing two servo skulls. The final group is revealed and I audibly groan as the enemy space marines are revealed. I start trying to figure out my strategy. As soon as I grab that last item the item's protectors will warp in, using overlapping fields of disruptive fire my terminators take out the item carriers buddies. Just then the warp surges, reinforcements. Bugger. Okay new plan, we whack the last guy. This triggers the reinforcing parties for the hold out. 2 groups of space marines to add to the horde of pox walkers. Crap crap crap. I realise the map is quite long, maybe we could... you know run away? So my terminators break towards my purgators who manage to keep the enemies just far enough away to do any major damage. The minute, and I mean the minute, I turn the corner at the top my terminators come face to face with another bloody patrol... They carve into the enemy but one terminator goes down severely injured. Behind them the purgators both fall to superior numbers. Its' down to Thule! He smashed aside some pox walkers and dashes into heavy cover with enough ap to cast aegis shield (fun fact I had actually forgotten about this ability but I digress). A hell storm of fires pounds into him and his cover leaving him a slice of health, as my turn begins... *EXTRACTION BEGINNING COMMANDER STAND BY* I let out a breath i didn't know I was holding.

If you wanted to know what it would be like to command a force of psychic space commandos fighting galactic black mould look no further! There is crew management and a base to manage with limited resources, every loss hurts and every serious injury compromises your ability to succeed. This game is ROCK HARD and I love it! Obviously there are easier settings so you do you! It really is a sensational game that rewards the risk taking, I mean I could have played with iron man off but where's the fun in that now?? The graphics are very pretty with some occasional performance loss but look for that to be patched out ASAP. THE EMPEROR HATES INDOLENCE BROTHERS, LET US NOT DISAPPOINT HIM!

The game in itself if you're into card battling is fine I assume, this isn't my genre and never has been. Had I realised what it was I probably, nay certainly, wouldn't have bought it. I purchased because of its' similarity, at least visually, to u-boat a game the devs say it isn't based off of. I get that but then why make it look so similar? It certainly accidentally suckered me in, anyways as a card battler thingy I'm sure it's fine as a sequel to U-boat which it's apparently not it is distinctly lacking. My only regret was going out and accidentally leaving it running or I would have refunded it

This first flush of Warhammer 3 is quite limited, it has a very focused mission and once you complete that mission its replayability is low. I have since modded it to turn off the chaos portals and it has become a truly brilliant game, the combat is snappy and quick with enough to do to make it fun and interesting! This is a great sign for the release of immortal Empires! I can't wait to unleash the Chaotic Forces on a unsuspecting old world! It is a good game, just be aware there is a limited scope currently.

Thanks to this game I have gone from a filthy casual to a wheel and pedal owning fanatic. I can't explain it, it isn't the greatest racing game in history, it's good but the subject is so endlessly cool that you can't help but love it

As a kid I received a copy of star trek rebellion. The disk came without any sort of documentation and I spent the next few weeks learning to play the game sight unseen. Flash forward to 2021, I bought this game and then rather stupidly failed to read the manual... BUT in failure I learned! Each iteration of my empire I get better, the systems become less opaque. This is a brilliant game with so many moving parts that I could write a small essay about but I will leave with a small story. My most recent game the Ironborn had pushed back all minor factions and were waging war against the Larellan Combine, my west was a wasteland that occasional raiders would emerge from but be thrown back by the mighty forces of the western rangers. Nearly 40 units appeared then on the west, giant mutants smashed into my western border. The western rangers fought a valiant, but ultimately hopeless, rearguard action buying time for the mighty first to return from the Larellan front. tens of thousands of brave soldiers died. Cities rose up in protest at the cost and either were brutally suppressed or fell to the mutant hordes. Finally at the capital it ended, 23 units held the line for 12 turns until the mutants dispersed. Battered, broken but alive my faction shakily took its' next steps into the waste land who knows what they'll find?

You know a game is great when you get a feeling, not a feeling of enjoying a product but pure heart pounding, adrenaline pumping engagement. I've had moments where I've reacted as the character to something that has happened dynamically on the street, and I've had visceral excitement where my immersion has been so complete that the game elicits the sort of response that will stay with you. This game has done that, the story, the pacing the voice acting are all incredible, the mechanics for me pull you in instead of reminding you you're just playing a game... and yet.

And yet the game is definitely buggy, I get passed in the streets by the same person repeatedly. Stop signs hang suspended in the air, my compatriots legs twist at un-natural angles as he navigates awkwardly around a bench. The game is bursting a the seams with amazing moments, incredible mechanics and brilliant, emotive story moments and it is also just bursting at the seams. The world is holding together with spit and hope on occasion, for lots of people it verges on unplayable and for others it is literally unplayable. For others there are significant bugs that will be jarring if not entirely immersion breaking. And for those lucky few like myself the bugs will be nuisances, but the actual game, the core experience is worth persevering for. It is brilliant, I came into the game keeping my expectations low, although I'm human and they spiked let me tell you! Bugs not withstanding this game exceeds, smashes, and betters my wildest hopes. I really hope it gets fixed for everyone soon cause frankly it needs to be played. Performance wise I personally can't complain, although I recognise that won't be true for everyone, the lowest FPS i hit is 29 at night on a busy street.

In essence this game is a broken vessel that holds one of, if not the, best games I've played.
