TL;DR: Crime Scene Cleaner offers fun gameplay with a simple story and secrets that strike the right balance of challenge. It’s one of the most polished PlayWay games I’ve played and can be 100% completed in around 12 hours, though it could probably be done faster. A great time killer. 8/10

Crime Scene Cleaner immediately reminded me of Viscera Cleanup Detail, with its satisfying loop of cleaning up after chaotic events, but it brings its own unique style to the experience. The gameplay is genuinely fun, with tasks ranging from scrubbing bloodstains to removing suspicious items. It strikes a nice balance between challenge and relaxation, making it easy to lose track of time while playing.

The story is serviceable, offering just enough context to keep you engaged without overshadowing the gameplay. It's simple, and that works perfectly for a game focused on the clean-up experience rather than an intricate plot.

A standout feature is the secrets hidden throughout the levels. They're challenging enough to feel rewarding when you find them, but not so obscure as to become frustrating. This adds a fun layer of exploration that keeps things interesting.

One thing I really appreciated was how polished the game felt. In fact, this is probably one of, if not the most polished PlayWay games I’ve played. I managed to 100% the game in 12 hours, though it could likely be done in less time with more focused play. It’s a fantastic time killer, whether you’re in for a quick session or a longer playthrough.

Honestly, my only complaint here is that it's a prologue and not the full game. Will absolutely get the full game once it's out, for now, I'm gonna go replay viscera cleanup.

TL;DR: KSP 2 is a visually and audibly improved version of KSP 1 but fails in almost every other aspect, especially with its future now uncertain due to the closure of the developer studio.

I initially had high hopes for Kerbal Space Program 2, and my original review reflected that optimism. However, it's now clear that my positivity was misplaced. Regrettably, I have to change my review to negative.

Key Issues:

Publisher Mismanagement: Take-Two and Private Division have demonstrated a lack of respect for both the developers and the player community. Their strange and restrictive policies, such as forbidding the KSP 2 devs from consulting with the original KSP 1 team, have hindered the game’s progress from the outset.

Developer Shutdown: The closure of the development studio has cast a shadow over the game’s future. With no clear plan or roadmap, it’s uncertain if KSP 2 will ever reach its full potential. Let's also not forget that Take Two/Private Division (at time of writing) haven't even acknowledged the closure of intercept.

Incomplete and Unpolished: Despite the improved visuals and sound design, KSP 2 feels like a step backward. Many promised features are either absent or poorly implemented, leaving the game feeling incomplete compared to the original KSP with its rich modding community.

Performance Issues: The game is plagued with optimization problems, including frequent crashes, long load times, and graphical glitches, which detract from the overall experience.

Community Ignored: Feedback from the player base seems to be largely ignored, with the publisher focusing more on quick fixes rather than addressing the core issues that have been raised.

Final Thoughts:

If you already own KSP 2, you might find some enjoyment, especially with the help of mods that improve the experience. However, if you haven’t purchased it yet, I strongly advise staying away unless there are significant changes in how the game is managed and developed.

The gaming industry has been increasingly plagued by poor publisher practices, and KSP 2 is yet another victim of this trend. It’s disappointing to see such potential squandered by mismanagement and short-sighted decisions. Unless Take-Two/Private Division drastically change their approach, it’s hard to see a positive outcome for KSP 2.

I don't even know where to begin. At time of writing I've just finished my first playthrough, and all I can really say at this point is wow.

Compelling story, fantastic music, and more emotions than I expected xD.

At it's core it's a resource management game that manages to not feel too grindy. You also really do have a lot of freedom to explore all of the available options, although I'm sure there's some stuff I missed as I managed to get (emotionally) wrapped up in a particular story-line.

All in all I would wholeheartedly recommend this game, especially at the price point. Well done devs!

On a more serious note:

This game has a lot going for it and I'm not even that far in yet. Granted, I've spent a lot of time making silly rockets. Don't have much to say other than, if you like KSP then you will probably like this.

I still haven't finished the content that exists in the early access portion of the game, but what I've played so far is fantastic. When compared to Baldur's Gate 3, Solasta feels so much more like I'm playing a Dungeons and Dragons game, than another Divinity game with a D&D skin. There are so many neat features that make this game really shine.

As of right now I don't have a whole bunch of time in the game, however, what I have played shows a lot of potential and I am greatly looking forward to where this game goes.

Of course as of the time of writing there are some negative reviews regarding the amount of content in the game. I agree, that there isn't a lot of content right now, however, the dev is active and listening to the community which I feel is more than can be said for a lot of EA titles.

If you're uncomfortable buying this game in the current state then follow it or otherwise keep up to date with it. It's going to go to great places and I, for one, am very excited to see it develop.

I bought this game for myself and 3 friends, and I can easily say that I'm not disappointed. While yes there have been server issues, that isn't unexpected from an early access title on day one. From what I've been able to play I've thoroughly enjoyed and it's kept my interest much more than Conan or Atlas ever did. It seems to me that this game has gotten a large number of unjustified bad reviews and it has only been out for a day. The amount of negative reviews this has gotten can easily break an early access title like this. The devs have a unique, playable (aside from expected server issues), game that is extremely fun.
