I have over two thousand hours in this game (other account) and have no plans on stopping. Do you like flying space ships? This is the Space-Shippiest game out there. Everything is done from the cockpit, and each of the over-thirty ships are indeed different, and each can be outfit for different jobs. Its got a steep learning curve because the game has so many details and so much to do. If you don't mind taking your time and learning how to play, this game is unmatched.

The first little extra. It is a small Quality-of-Life enhancement that looks badass. Not required, but having it on the Trade Route means you won't have to worry about pirates.

Another fun extra. Its a small Quality-of-Life enhancement that looks cool. Its also a nice way to kick the dev an extra buck. Not required, but it does give your navy a nice boost.

A few hours of playing and I'm getting the grips on this lovely little game. Detailed resource chains and very limited build areas make a challenge, and the art and style of the game is entrancing. Good options, challenges as well as the long-term builds, variation in the mountains and resources, and I have learned to fear avalanches. Don't be afraid to restart mountains. And yaks. Lots of yaks. Strongly recommended.

After a few hours, I think I've gotten the hang of things. The control and build mechanics are deceptively simple, with a lot of hidden stuff under the hood. It is NOT a standard city-builder, but still deeper than a puzzle game like Islanders or Townscaper: a lot less micromanaging than a full city sim, and options for how much resourcing you want to deal with, as opposed to just exploring, building, trade or conquest. A good number of game options and a very active dev means this game should continue to develop and improve for a while. Sandbox, Photo modes, and three save slots included.

As an oil painter, this has saved me thousands of dollars. As an artist, this has saved my sanity when I have no studio space. As a teacher, I can get people trying to paint without a huge investment. This is a fantastic simulation of oil painting with many computer quality-of-life benefits on top of it all. I enjoyed it so much I made a bunch of tutorial videos to help people get even more out of it. So yeah, Vermillion is a fantastic piece of software. Strongly recommended.

There are a heap of rhythm games out in VR, so having a new one stand out is getting harder. How about combining rhythm with racing? Ragnaröck by WanadevStudio adds an amusing theme, which stays strong throughout the gameplay: Viking Metal.

As coxswain of a longboat, your job is to beat the drums and inspire the crew to row harder. Like most rhythm games, you pound the symbols at the right time to increase your speed. Multiple hits generate combos, which gives the crew and extra burst of speed. Celtic/Viking/Pirate Metal music keeps the tempo and energy high, and fits the flavor remarkably well. I tried to play conservatively to save energy a few times, but the music is not geared towards subtlety. Its a great upper body workout.

While the gameplay itself is simple, the music and tracks get quite complex, and getting perfect timing takes practice. It plays standing or seated, and does not have any moving around. Plenty of controls to adjust your hammers and latency, and the stylized graphics runs smoothly even on potato systems. Solo players can race against their best times, and there are online leaderboards to compare scores. Multiplayer races support up to six ships, and the combo mechanic lets the underdog get sudden sprints to try and catch up. The developer WanadevStudio has been doing regular updates, and it also has a beta for making your own tracks.

Final verdict: Ragnaröck is a fun fitness rhythm game with a refreshing change from the techno-neon standard. The racing element gives it an edge of challenge and direct competition. Looking forward to more tracks!

Have you ever pretended your hand is a plane/spaceship and zoomed it around going "pew! pew!" blowing up bad guys? Ever play a "bullet hell" game and thought it might be cool in full VR? Shooty Skies Overdrive let's you play pretend again, and shows just how cool it can be. There are Power Ups to give your off-hand things to do (with full right/left handed support) and difficulty levels that live up to the name "Overdrive." Progression, checkpoints and gameplay unlocks help keep things fresh, and let's you tweak numbers to get the Power Ups you prefer. Nothing hugely sophisticated, but varied and hectic enough to keep me coming back for more. Bright but low-fi graphics means it runs like silk, even with a million bullets in your face.

Final Verdict: Like Pistol Whip, its a fun pick-up-and-play game: while I probably won't sink many hours into it at a time, I do see myself dropping back in for a spin on a regular basis.

Here is the first world gameplay (and starting the second), with no commentary: https://youtu.be/_C7u_Xv40MQ
