Put almost a hundred hours into the first one before jumping immediately into this one, and there are some things I had to learn/unlearn:

Dodge isn't very helpful especially since they got rid of long dodge, the machines telegraph you HARD. Laser aim. But they buffed sliding (almost a little too much?) and you are practically frictionless. So slide more. When you do get hit, the long stumble/stunlock animation can be frustrating.

Melee has a ton of mechanics, but I wish there was a block/parry also, since enemies do block but we can't. I find that I get cheesed a lot if I'm not too careful and enemies combo me quite a bit.

Climbing is both better and worse? I find Aloy randomly climbing things mid fight sometimes and I have to be aware of not rubbing against walls/obstacles and triggering a mantle when I jump. But step size seems a little off, and Aloy gets stuck on props or lips on the floor quite a bit, even some staircases.

There's a lot of weapons to explore and try out for different playstyles. Initially I found it a little overwhelming having just come from Zero Dawn, but now I understand their own individual niches. There's a big learning curve in this game like the first one, but I'm thinking it'll be worth it! The animations, scenery, tribes, everything is a lot more fleshed out in Forbidden West. If you're a fan of the first I think you'll like this, just be ready to pick up a few new tricks.

Minimalist arena shooter that plays very well, feels polished and intuitive. One of those games where I don't mute the soundtrack.
Also makes for a fun aim trainer!

Was excited for the update, but it honestly ruined the game. The original was simple, nothing was pay-to-win, there were no health bars. You either won or died fair and square. Sucks because me and my friends would play this with our partners and it was a riot.

I would've paid for this. A true love letter to Half Life.

Bought this game while it was on sale. I enjoyed it, as did a friend of mine who I recommended it to also. However, I really wish things ended differently. At the same time, life sometimes just works like that and we have to accept it. Your choices really don't have much of an impact on the ending, and I wish there were more achievements and stuff to find to make me want to come back and play it. If it's on sale, buy it! It's still well made and the voice acting is superb.
