Please note: I've played the original expansion for Shadowrun Returns, not the Director's Cut version. However, I imagine they are similar enough to write a reasonably accurate review.

In short, this is one of the best modern day RPG's. A fantastic story, amazing turn-based combat system, great characters and real Shadowrun-atmosphere unlike in the original Dead Man's Switch campaign (here you actually do runs against different corporations and other enemy factions, many of them are optional). In the basegame (Dead Man's Switch), maps are linear and your character skills and stats are not utilized enough in dialogue, but in Dragonfall, both have been addressed incredibly well. There is also a nice variety of character interaction and optional side quests (you know, REAL side quests, not like thos in Dead Man's Switch).

In many ways, this game reminds me of the games from the golden age of Bioware: Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. It has similarly deep characters with interesting backstories and well thought-out story. But the setting here in the Shadowrun universe brings one unique spice to the mix: the morality is not as bland and dated as good vs. evil, but rather Witcher-like shades of gray.

Then we have the epilogue section, which, while short, fills in some background information and specifics about the story and leaves the player off with an exceptionally satisfying solution - or solutions, there are choices that matter in the game!

Couple words of criticism, though... While Dragonfall improves many aspects from the original Dead Man's Switch campaign, like adding a proper save system, side-quests, characters, shadowruns and story, the Matrix part is still just another combat system with little to no variety or difference to the "real world" combat. Luckily, there are now almost no compulsory hacking sections, so, while a bit dissappointed, I don't think this is a big deal. If you are looking for a Shadowrun game with an interesting hacking system, try the SEGA Genesis version of Shadowrun instead.

Short story short: buy it, play it! If there is even a chance that you might enjoy a good old-stylish RPG mixed with modern day UI and mechanics or turn-based tactical combat game similar to XCOM:EU, I am almost certain you are going to enjoy this one thoroughly. To me, it left such a deep impression that I just can't put into words. I used to play the SEGA Genesis version of Shadowrun, and before I played this, it was hands-down the best implementation of the classic tabletop RPG. Now it has been dethroned by Dragonfall, easily.

9/10, an instant classic and underappreciated RPG. Compared to mediocre Dead Man's Switch, this is a _huge_ improvement.

I was expecting a light, arcade dogfighting game, but this is more like Call of Duty. Plane does not feel anything like a plane, but no worries, we haz BIIIG EXPLOSIONS!!! And turret sections!! And finishing moves with KILLCAM!!

Terrible console shooter, avoid at all costs.

Even though I am not much into furries, this is now one of my favourite games. And explaining why seems to be the most difficult thing I've ever written.

Let's start simple, the music is pretty damn gorgeous! There are only a few games that fit flwalessly to the game and are really enjoyable to listen independetly as well. None of the tracks gets annoying over time and they support the game flow from start to finish.
The story is well-written, and even though I normally prefer darker and more brutal atmosphere in my games, having a fairy taler occasionally can feel refreshing. And this one really does! The two main characters are really fun to take through the solid yet somewhat simplistic main story, their interactions with each other never fail to characterize them both and their bond. Some of the supporting characters are not so strong, though, but it didn't really bother me.
But the real meat here is the fighting system and especially the controls. I've never played a game with as tight control set as Dust. If you die, it's your own fault for making a balant mistake. You really feel like you are in control at any time. The system itself is really simple, yet it never got boring in my first playthrough. Every fight was thoroughly satisfying and the platforming, while I usually hate it, felt natural and fun to play.

The only bad thing I can say is the difficulty level, which is too easy for me. And the fact that after completing this game, other games feel dull and colourless... =D

Dust is easily the best game I've played for quite a while. If there is any chance you'd enjoy a good metroidvania platformer, give this one a try. I give it my biggest recommendations!

It took me a while to get myself into trying this game. A friend of mine recommended it so much and I finally gave up and bought it from Steam sale. I've played it for couple of hours and I have to admit: this is one of the best games I've played for years. Everything is just executed so well: the combat system is extremely easy to get into yet offers incredible amounts of challenge and variety (some of the combos are just... ridiculously hard - and awesome!), the humor cracks me up every time, the challenges/jump puzzles are complex yet does not require godlike reflexes to complete (just a little patience and planning) and the levels are exceptionally well crafted and varied. Even though I am not a fan of the graphical presentation nor the music (which I ended up muting during my first playing session - it's not bad in any way, but I just can't stand it), they serve their purpose quite well.

I cannot praise this game enough. If you have any love for metroidvania style games, buy it! If you don't, buy it anyway, you'll probably end up liking it anyway. =)
