Menu / Match selection
You start the game with a simple tutorial, you see a video of a certain move and you can copy it against a dummy.
Every round you return to the menu where you can buy new gear, heal your character, buy upgrades, etc.
You have 3 options available for which match you want to play, a 4th option needs to be unlocked.
These matches can be 1 vs 1 up to 7 vs 7, but also 4 vs 1 and even you alone vs 8.

Leveling system
The game works with a level system, at the start you will get easy matches which shouldn't be much of a challenge.
But after every round you only heal a small bit, so if you took a lot of damage, your next match might be hard. You can buy a physician to heal you, which gets more expensive and less effective every time you do it in that same round.
As you are new to this combat system you will most likely end up spending all your money on healing, have no money left to buy better gear and you will face a decently armored warrior at lvl 8 while you are still fighting with a frying pan.

Dead = Dead
When you die, the game is over, your character is officially dead. Your new character will receive a very small portion of money depending on how much score your previous character had. If you ever have too much money, you can choose to give it to your next character (he only gets 10% of it).
Expect to die multiple times before getting to the high levels.

Skill system
The game also has a skill system with many different skills like one-handed sword, one-handed mace, polearm, two-handed axe, health, stamina, movement, etc.
Every time you fight with a weapon your skills with that weapon increase, you can also buy extra training at the cost of stamina for your next match.

Unique combat system
The combat system is something I haven't seen in a game before, it is physics based like in games as Chivalry and Mordhau but you have not as much control over your weapon as you do in those games. Moving your mouse to the left side of the monitor will make your character hold it's weapon more to the left, moving it right will make it move right, same goes for up and down. When you click you start a swing, you drag your mouse to a direction you want to swing from and release to hit. Which means your swing is dependant on the starting position of your mouse and the position in which you move it.
Blocking is done with your right mouse button and has more chance of succes depending on how close you hold your mouse to the blade of the enemy weapon.
Eventually there is stamina which is probably one of the most important things to control, when you are low on stamina you don't swing hard anymore, when you are out of stamina you can no longer swing or dodge.
You can try to keep some distance from the enemy and stamina will recover, while blocking this recovery slows down, getting hit, also if blocked or parried will reduce your stamina.
You can also kick people, disarm them, break their weapons or have yours broken, you can pick up any weapon of the ground that is not broken.

Victory
When you create your new character you are given a victory condition, this can be reaching a certain rank or collecting enough money. You can then retire your character, some money you've saved goes to your next character plus you get a bonus for each retired character.

Opinion
Fun game with a lot of potential
Spent 8 hours before being able to retire my first fighter so there's a bit of a learning curve.
Small bugs, barely noticable
May become repetitive as changing weapons doesn't really feel like a different weapon.
A multiplayer version of this game would be great or maybe even an MMORPG with the characters from this game.

Quest: Brew a beer with more than 4.5% ADV (alcohol percentage) and a color brighter than 8 SRM

My recipe:
- 16L water (80-90 celsius)
- Dissolve 4.8kg of honey (16 bottles)
- Cool to 20 celsius and add 150g strong yeast
- Wait 20 days

I gave them a bucket of mead instead of beer and got the job completed.

Truely amazing and original!

3 to 4 armies, led by a general (that's you) spawn in their camps.
With your starting money you buy troops (max 20).
Walk your shield wall to the next flag and capture it, every flag increases the amount of gold and score you get per minute.
With this gold you can then replenish your troops at any flag you just captured.
For 200 gold you can buy upgrades like increasing your army size to 25, throwables, a guy with a standard to boost the units, stronger of units and more.
When you are dead and have no more flags to spawn on, you are defeated. The goal is to have the highest score when the timer ends or to defeat all the other teams.

My first game ended up in a defeat as I was still learning how to strategize in this game but once I got the hang of it, I did manage to beat all the 4 levels currently in the game. Yet it still had a challenge to it, there was not a moment where I felt overpowered against the AI as the AI basicly gets all the same things you do.

The game currently has 4 maps, a 5th one is visible in the campaign menu but it is not yet available.
They are also listed as Act 1, which means there is probably more maps to come and since the maps are simple I doubt they are that difficult to make, if you can think of a good design of course.

Not bad, managed to fail on second mission already, definitely not easy, a little slow paced but the fast forward button is nice.

Unique concepts and I think they did a perfect job on it.
Lots of voice acting in the game creating a story in a game where you'd expect none.

Ark had one of the worst launches in gaming history, these people proved that they could do even worse.
The release date was delayed 3 times but that was still too short. They obviously rushed the release to get the game available before christmas. When looking on the forum there is no sign of alpha testing or stress testing, they decided to do all this while the game was live, which of course angered a lot of players. Especially since the devs gave us barely any information about the state of the game.

The trailer shows off an amazing MMORPG in a pirate world where you'd have massive raids, nice NPC towns, roleplaying and epic seabattles against both players and monsters.
Many people, misleaded by this trailer, jumped in this game but didn't really get what they expected. A bit of false advertisement.

Since the core mechanics testing, stress testing and balancing all happened while thousands of players were playing, it was just a mess. But on the other hand the devs received thousands and thousands of reviews, bug reports and complaints about features.
The devs were able to use this information to push patches almost every 2-3 hours for the first 2-3 weeks. Making the game more stable and balanced every day.

So let's look at my in-game experience:

The first day, as I mentioned was unplayable, the freeports, which are the best places to spawn were overcrowded by sleeping bodies of players that decided to give up on the game. These bodies were probably the main cause of the incredible lagg. Everywhere you went you had rubberbanding, you had to do every move 5-10 times before the server agreed that you actually moved.
I didn't give up, it took me about 2-3 hours to gather the materials to get a cheap raft. Which would otherwise take you 3-5 minutes. And I escaped from the freeport region to the next.
The whole game changed there as there was barely any lagg but before I was at the beach of any of these new islands, I decided to restart and group up with some friends on the NA PvE server.

We decided to spawn at a lawless island, where not as many people spawn.
While there was a little bit of lagg here every now and then, it was playable but it took us a lot longer to gather the materials.
The main reason for this was the trees who did not respawn at all.
We were able to build a raft but we decided to start working on a sloop before we really left the island, halfway the construction of this small ships is where the trees ran out, the only trees remaining requires climbing picks, which was a bit of a struggle so I decided to take the raft and go to the next region where I found this big island that had thousands of trees. The first beach I tried to dock at had a tiger, which I didn't want to risk as I only had a bow and a spear, not knowing how strong the creature was. I sailed further to the second beach, which had quite a bit of a slope but it allowed me to go onto land without being killed immediately.
I immediately placed my claim flag because I saw other people on the water headed for this island.
I filled my raft with wood to bring back to the first island so we could finish our sloop and bring it here.
We set sail, back to the first island, which is not too far away, we had wind in our back so it went pretty quick.
We arrived at the region border and the game made us transfer regions.
This usually takes about 10 seconds but this time after 2 minutes, we disconnected from the server.
We log back in and the game recognised us as dead. We try to spawn on the raft but that didn't work, instead we spawned in the middle of the ocean and we couldn't move, only see the waves till the game disconnected us a minute later.
We gave up for that day.

The next day I logged in and my friend had already managed to build the sloop, for this he spawned at a freeport in the region north of it, got a cheap raft, filled it with wood and brought it there.
Then we took the sloop and sailed back to the big island where we knew were a lot of trees. Trees at the point seemed like the best way to rate an island whether it's good or not.

We started working on a small base on the beach, supported by pillars. Slowly we leveled up we killing things while we explored the island. We found metal (cobalt), hundreds of rocks spread over a massive hillside. We found nectar, rice plants, wild beans, crystal but also tigers, rattlesnakes, giant snakes and scorpions.
Meanwhile some more people that we knew decided to join our company. We had about 9 players of which usually 3-4 were online.

We started the construction of a bigger ship, as we couldn't really do much with the sloop we had.
We built a schooner, this took us about 3 days as we were more busy exploring and finding out what the game had to offer on this island instead of gathering materials for the ship.
Our ship of course needed cannons, for this we needed 'alloy', it took us some time to find out that 'alloy' meant any metal ingot. The only problem was that cobalt needed salt to be turned into ingots.
Nowhere on this island we found any salt. We found out that shovels were the best way to dig up ground and find drinkable water as the whole land was depleted from everyone digging for water with their hands.
Of course we had to try digging on different surfaces and we discovered that digging in sand gives you salt every now and then. This of course didn't give nearly as much salt as we find in the steam comments, the forums and Discord but we managed to put 8 cannons on this ship.

It's time to set sail! Explore the unknown!
We had 4 treasure maps that leaded to the region next to us, which was our objective.
Again we arrive at the frightening region border, we prayed for Lord Gaben and sailed through.
The game didn't crash! Hurray!
We spawned inbetween 2 'Ship of the damned', ghost ships...
These ships immediately started firing at us and we manned the cannons.
Three men on the cannons, one man on repairs.
The repairs were insufficient, impossible to keep up with the massive amount of cannonballs hitting us.
We managed to sink one ship.
Then the second ship was moving a bit and sailing into the region border, making him despawn.

We won!
But the whole portside of our ship was missing... we had plenty of materials with us to repair the ship but no one knew you can't repair a missing plank, only a damaged plank, so our ship sank and we got eaten by sharks and jellyfish...
A really demotivating experience.

But we didn't give up, we grabbed our tools and gathered new materials, this time it barely took us 5 hours to finish a new schooner while last time it took us 3-4 days.
But we were still afraid to go sailing as we saw many ships of the damned sailing by. One even sunk a brigantine that some players were still building. These players also quit the game at that point.

Several patches happened, decreasing the amount of ships of the damned, making them weaker and decreasing their aggro range towards smaller ships.

After a few days, some of our company decided to switch back to other games. Which left only 4 of us playing.
This was not enough to do many spectacular things since mostly only 2 of us were online.
We built a big, nice looking port, we made plate armors, a stockpile of guns and ammunition and built a brigantine.
We managed to powerlevel ourselves to nearly level 50 by killing alpha monsters on the island, we also leveled up by doing common treasure maps in our region, we did one voyage with the schooner towards an island about 9 regions away to gather wheat so we could tame an elephant but before we made it back, the devs gave us the ability to tame elephants even with regular berries.

Now we are waiting for a moment where most of us are able to play so we can set sail with the Brigantine and see what else this game has to offer.

So do I recommend this game?
YES!
If you like Ark, you'll probably like this too.

Imagine Arma but actually playable for a new player.

While trying to add a good level of realism, the game is easy to get started with.
On every server there are people who will gladly teach you the basics of the game, which are not difficult at all.

The game is also great for competitive gameplay amongst clans.

This game might not be a good port but that is only because it is not really meant to be played on PC, which many of the reviews don't seem to get.
When you're planning to play this game with a keyboard, you'll be using your keyboard like it were a controller, so an Xbox controller is a must.
I had some issues with the settings, which come in a seperate .exe program, not included in the game itself. The game was stuck on my left monitor and couldn't go to the middle unless I played in window mode, not even the Windows+Shift+Right shortcut didn't move the game. I had to go into the windows settings and set my middle screen as default monitor.

The game itself is amazing, it's like Pokémon but with a better storyline.
It has a good amount of comedy and keeps you hooked.
The game is not too difficult yet it offers some challenging boss fights.
Fighting has a nice turn based system, it reminds me a little of Final Fantasy VII, the game offers an option for quicker paced combat, which will require you to make faster decisions since the enemy will not wait their turn.

Totally worth the 40 euro price tag.

Basicly when I saw the trailer on E3, I knew this was going to be the best game of the year so far.
Then we spoke about it and I started to have a few doubts.
Different devs, the only thing I know them from is Ratchet and Clank and I don't even like those games.
We don't have the time travelling anymore so what is it what makes life strange in the prequel?
One thing was sure, I was going to play it as soon as it released, if it were good or bad.

But damn the first episode was just amazing and I can't wait for the next.
Now I do have a few things I noticed which I didn't really like.
The first thing is the animations that are something like glitching a little, especially when changing cameras, it's only a few milliseconds but I can notice it, I've seen it too on Twitch streams.
Some animations look a bit weird too, like how Chloe's dad keeps looking at her for so long in the car, of course he had an accident, he doesn't watch the road at all. Also when Chloe's mom is waiting for you to answer her in the kitchen, she puts her left leg to the front, then right leg again and left and right, every 3 seconds like she has to pee really really bad.

The first area we enter in the game and the path leading up to it could have used a little more detail I think.
Most games start the game off nice to showcase what they created with the engine, I understand it's the exact same engine as the original game but the first moments didn't really feel like AAA devs made this.

Anyway, the first episode is amazing.
I do suggest playing the original first even tho this story comes first in time but if you know more about what is going to happen to the characters years later, I think it makes it even better.

Great game, worth the price.
There's no reason not to try the first episode of the original game, it's free and there's a 98% chance you'll love it and if you do, you'll love this too.
