This game was a bit of a wild ride. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of the game. The story was engaging and intriguing. The game did a great job of drawing me in and getting me interested in the world and characters. The combat took me a bit to get used to but once I got the hang of it I began to really enjoy it. Shortly into the game you get to the main open world area which is where the bulk of the game takes place. The open world parts were mostly fun but the side quests certainly began to drag on. I really wish there were less fetch style quests. Because of how the open world areas drug the game out I lost interest in the game and took a hiatus from it and came back a year later determined to finish it. From about Chapters 8 to 13 of the main story, I began to get really frustrated with the story. The game presents the story in a very disjointed fashion. Lots of events happen off screen and characters develop and change allegiance seemingly without explanation. The developers had this grand idea to tell the missing parts of the game's story in various movies, TV shows, and DLC playable campaigns that fill in all the gaps. This method of telling a story was EXTREMELY annoying to me. On top of the annoying story delivery, some of those chapters included "playable" parts where you had to walk or run for long distances for no real reason. It felt like filler. It almost made me want to quit playing again, but I toughed it out. And boy am I glad I did. This game had one of the most epic, most fun, best written, and best presented endings to a game I've ever seen. It was dramatic, engaging, interesting, fun, and I even got a little emotional at the end. They really finally got me to care about all the characters. I wish this whole thing could be turned into a chronological coherent movie that I could re-watch because the story is (when seen in order) so good, and the ending was even better. The final scenes were special, and I'll remember them a long time. There's even a little change to the title screen at the end of the game that, for me at least, was a meaningful and special final touch.

If you choose to play Final Fantasy XV I would recommend trying to do the campaign quests as soon as your level allows it so that you can spend as much time as possible doing side quests in the open world area in the post game with the Regalia Type-F at your disposal. This is a flying car and it makes traversing the world much easier, faster, and very enjoyable. Also be prepared to follow some guide to take appropriate breaks at the right times to play or watch the related missing story elements so that things makes sense.

My recommendation overall is to tough it out and finish this game. It is worth it. It is going down as one of my favorite game stories, although they definitely could have delivered it better, and I'm so glad I played it.

Come on you apes, you wanna live forever?!

Edit May 6th:
This is wanna the most fun in a video game I've ever had. It's an added bonus that both the devs and the community are also fantastic. I came to edit my review today in recognition of May 6th, Helldivers Independence Day, the day we beat Sony.

Simply doesn't compare to the first game. Added too few new QoL features to compensate for the new, annoying, time consuming, not fun, features.

Early Access Review
This game satisfies my OCD and my need to create efficient systems. The beginning is great as you move from grindy style gathering in the tutorial to full on automation soon after. Then you never have to hand craft/grind again! Once you get to coal power you are free to just explore and do whatever. I'm amazed by the beauty of this handcrafted world. It is a joy just to drive around. The building systems are intuitive and smart. Unlike building systems in other games, in this game it just works. There are tons of little QOL things to make it easier. I am constantly unlocking new things. It is fun and interesting and my factory JUST KEEPS GROWING! I LOVE IT! Fantastic game, devs! Thank you! Keep it coming! I can't wait to see the finished product!

There are some bugs, but for Early Access is it amazingly well polished. Most of the bugs I encounter (which aren't many) I encounter when playing multiplayer with my friend who doesn't have the best internet.

I enjoyed all aspects of this game.

Simple Park management with convenient management views. (Planet Coaster is too complex for me, this was perfect)
A simple UI and convenient keyboard shortcuts for fast control.
Great graphics.
Frequent Disasters to keep me on my toes.
Missions and contracts to keep me busy.
Driving the vehicles is a blast, and useful too.
Jeff Goldblum's wonderful voice. (Thank you for getting all of the original voice actors that you could.)
Lastly I simply enjoyed watching my dinos mill about.

Zero complaints about the game from me. Very well polished and fun to play. I will probably be buying the story related DLCs at some point.

It took me 45 hours to get most of the base game achievments and complete all campaign missions at a mostly leisurly and enjoyable pace. (I have not tackled Challenge mode yet for those achievments.)

Early Access Review
I love Ark. I have had it since it's release and have seen it become the amazing game it is today. There have been bugs to deal with along the way through early access but they get resolved and overall it has been an amazing experience and this game is totally worth playing. Lots of great new content has been added. Great modding community. Lots of support from developers. This is one of my top 10 favorite games of all time and definitely in the top 3 for time spent in a game over my life time.

Anyone complaining about the price hike obviously hasn't read Wild Card's very good explanation as to why they were forced to increase the price before actually leaving Early Access. So those people need to either read that or grow up and get over it. This game is absolutely worth every penny.

This game brought me so much nostalgia from my Harvest Moon days. I honestly haven't truly loved a game like this since Harvest Moon 64, but Stardew Valley was everything I hoped Harvest Moon could be and more. I truly love this game and have enjoyed every minute I've played of it. If you ever enjoyed farm/life sims or Harvest Moon in the past then you will love this game.

The developer, ConcernedApe/Eric Barone, is awesome and I love that he wants to keep making this game by himself. Way to go man! Keep it up! Don't let anyone ruin it! Eric keeps updates coming to the game it is a joy to come back and pick up the game again to see what has been added. My friend and I are excited for a future co-op mode!
