A fantastic, albeit short, game that plays like a retro arcade shooter. There's a unique and fun dash mechanic, a decent variety of guns, and monsters that seem to be themed off of four different elements. The map design is intriguing, and seemingly evolves as you go through the game. The story is very loose, and it's up to your imagination as to what the game is truly about. I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough, and I think the game is well done. Stay moving, and don't die, or you may have to redo a bit! My only complaint is there's no auto saving, so it's up to you to save periodically.

Well, I don't really see where some of these bad reviews come from. I'll admit I'm only 16 hours into this game, However, I've been thoroughly enjoying this game. Visually, It's quite fun to look at it, Extremely beautiful. However there's a lot of reused sprites, and voices which can be a flaw to some (It is slightly annoying, but not a minus for me) I actually enjoy the story so far, I think the combat is alright with really three main ways of playing, Mage, Melee weapon or Bows/Crossbows. There's a lot of crafting you can do(Like making weapons) and a bit of alchemy to do(Like making your own potions, These potions vary from adding to your health regen to increasing your overall stats temporarily)

I will say this though, This game is a bit buggy. You can get stuck in poorly rendered areas or just jumping where you aren't suppose to go, The cut-scenes will make you crash from time to time as well, However you can easily watch the cut scenes from within the Arcania folder if you do crash and just skip them in game. Does this make the game unplayable? For me, No it doesn't. It can be annoying to crash during a cutscene and have to rewatch it again, But it's no big deal for the most part.

I'll also say this, I had a lot more problems running this game off an FX-8150 CPU than I do with my current i7 3770k(Graphics card is a 7970 for those wondering), Whether this game doesn't like AMD or something along those lines I can't say for sure, But my system isn't a slouch by any means. I feel like this game might run better on older systems then newer systems, For instance my laptop running an old first gen i7 at 1.73GHz and a 1GB ATI card(I think 5850) seems to run it without any cut scene errors or crashes.

But in the end, I really do enjoy this game, The main story keeps me interested, I feel the combat is alright for the style of game that it is, and despite some minor things here and there, I would recommend this game when it's on sale. I personally feel it's worth it's $20 price tag that it wears now. If you see it on sale and you read the reviews and thought "Well, Now I'm not too sure..." I would take the chance to try it out. I can't vouch for the other games in the series as I've never played them, But please, Give this one a chance!

Edit: I've now completed the game with 26 hours played, I'm definitely going to be playing through it one more time, And possibly might buy the DLC as well. I took my time for the most part playing through this and had all but one quest finished(finding 30 belier artifacts), So I'll assume you can get around 25 30 hours on average for this game's full completion. The ending was a tad disappointing in terms of the fight, However I feel the story was still enjoyable despite this. Combined with the great visuals, and a decent combat system, I think this game was well worth picking up if you enjoy RPGs. There is quite a bit of walking, Like most RPGs but it never once bothered me.

There is a huge amount of potions you can create, A handful of decent weapons, and a couple decent armors. The best items you can craft obviously don't come till later on in the game. The weapons you can make don't come until you're about half way 3/4ths of the way done with the game, When you're able to create Steel Ingots. Some boss fights are underwhelming, Especially when you play the game at normal difficulty or lower, Some bosses will drop some decent weapons however. I strongly recommend following the "Kill everything you see" tactic, Unless you run into mobs that you have difficulty taking down, As each mob will drop a certain item that is special to it. That's it for what I have to say, Enjoy!

Well, I purposely held off on reviewing this game until I felt I had proper time played as well as knowledge of the developer, So let us get into this review.

First, I will say this IS a game that seems to be heavily inspired by Five Nights at Freddy's, But I really wouldn't consider it a complete copy, It's definitely different, And it's a bit more than just senseless jump scares. I don't personally find this game very scary personally, But I still enjoy playing this one quite a bit. In this game, You're armed with only a flashlight, As the boogeyman tries to come at you from four different directions, However there's a few catches. The boogeyman is loud, And each place he tries to come from has a distinct sound, Making audio a key factor. When you hear him, You simply have to shine your flashlight on him and he goes away. It's apparent he doesn't enjoy the light very much, So when the sun comes up at 6:00 AM, He's done for the night. A very basic concept, And it's faily well exectured.

Everything seems to have a good amount of detail to it, The lighting seems perfect, There's various distractions such as weather changes, An owl, A plane going across the floor, A ball rolling off the shelf, Your nightlight will randomly go out, The hallway lights will also go out, And the television will occasionally turn on with quite a bit of white noise to it. I personally feel all of these little things add some extra tension that just wouldn't be there normally.

If you happen to run out of battery (You really shouldn't in most cases.) You can still save yourself as there's batteries under the bed with I believe a 50% chance of getting a battery, 25% chance of nothing, And 25% chance of the boogeyman trying to eat your head off. The batteries you do get vary in how long they last, Having red, green, And blue batteries. Blue being the best with a realtively low chance.

The one thing I'm neutral about is more preference than anything else, The boogeyman has a seemingly goofy appearance, And while it fits the game's art style pretty well, I don't personally find it to be that frightening.

Now, We'll mention some things about the developer. He/She seems very passionate and appears to care greatly about the game, As a result of this he fixed complaints, Bugs, And adds suggestions in a relatively fast manner. This is always a great thing. He's been very active about responding to posts, Whether it's for technical help, Suggestions, Bugs or criticism he seems to be taking it well. It's always comforting to see developers actually work on their game in the indie field, As recently we've seen a lot of broken games or buggy games that just suck with no attention given to them. This is NOT one of those games. I have nothing but good things to say based on what I've seen in this department.

-Pros
• Great atmopshere
• Good art direction
• Plenty of things to distract you while playing, Making it sometimes easy to not notice the oogy boogeyman
• Changing weather, With rain and wind.
• Good gameplay for the type of game it is
• An acceptable amount of game options, But note that it lacks sound options
• Incredible developer who seems very passionate about the game, And has released a patch almost everyday since I've acquired the game (Not everyday, But close enough), Sometimes doing two patches a day.

-Cons
• A somewhat goofy creature trying to get you, Despite fitting the game's art very well, He doesn't seem too menancing.
• There's no sound options at all (It's apparently harder then expected, And it does sound like He's looked into it, But I still have to list this as a con. It doesn't bother me personally, But it may bother you.)
• For some, The price may be an issue.

At the current time, This is currently all I have to say so far. I plan to update this review if I experience other issues, Or have more things to add. Thanks for taking the time to read if you did, And hopefully this review helped you in some way.

So I'm not going to lie, I truly do love this game and it's mechanics, Jigstraw pretty much hits on the nail with his review.

The playerbase/community is just simply the worst kind you have /in game/(See below), And while the forums have the decent community, You should be prepared for multiple off topic posts from other users as well as the devs themselves in your threads or other's threads. Why this is acceptable I'm unsure, But it seems to happen regularly. There's supposedly rules against it, But everyone does it.

If you are even slightly above average at FPS games, Don't even bother. 99% of the games you join in that aren't infection/zombie nonsense, You will get booted from the game simply for being better than the host or better than anyone else in the lobby. You will instantly be labled as a cheater, And you'll pretty much never get to enjoy a full match of the game again. It'd be one thing if this was just a once a day type thing, But this literally happens every match I join. I don't talk in these lobbies, Nor ♥♥♥♥ talk, Just booted without reason. It's just not enjoyable when this is the type of community that dominates the game. This may change with the below as being able to spawn kill efficiently will indeed be harder, However getting kicked for doing better does happen far, far more than it should. More than likely you should bank on playing with friends if you do decide to get this game.

Edited out most of the review to remove what was previously said about no more patches incoming into MM, After a relatively large push the developers have opted to do another patch for the community, And this is a seemingly huge step in the right direction. The spawn beams/noise will soon be able to be toggled on and off which was a surprisingly large complaint that was neglected until our recent push for it. This is a +1 to the dev team, Despite being a relatively big flip flop from his original statements, As well as something that was brought up as an issue almost two years ago.

Even though I've changed the review to recommended, I've still decided to leave the game permenately, As someone who keeps true to their words (Such as what was said in my topic, Despite I was an ass), I truly can't stand behind this game or the developers full heartily. "Out of principle I'm not going to argue about the topic of the thread if you cannot concede to the simple fact that we do not owe you anything. Every game has issues. The devs don't owe you flawless games." - The issue discussed ended up having nearly 40 supporters vs two people who didn't, One of which included Jfizzle, the head honcho. This is just based off those who mentioned it via the forums and no where else, off of all the topics made about it.
