Only played for about 30 minutes so far, because this game I want, no I NEED to play in local co-op with my brother. Bud & Terrence were a huge part of our childhood, and this game so far pulls all the right strings. The graphics are an amazing tribute to the 90s arcade beat'em ups like Double Dragon, yet lovingly feel like out of the classic Spencer & Hill movies. The sound effects of the slaps are taken right out of the movies - and of course Bud's "Whack-a-mole" isn't missing either! And the original soundtrack just makes the game so much more amazing!

Planet Coaster has everything the coasterhead of today could ask for. From gorgoues graphics (seriously, this game looks like it was made by Pixar) over an incredible level of detail (we're talking actually moving parts UNDER the coaster carts that you do not even see if you don't go looking for them) and an astonishing level of sound detail (they rented a freaking theme park for two days to record all the various sounds, from bars locking to coasters going by) all the way to a very detailed level of management that we all love and need!

Whether you want to play sandbox or career or challenge mode, it's all there. If you are a fan of the classic RCT games I'd personally recommend Planet Coaster a hundred times over its competitors (without naming them because companies nowadays threaten to sue for speaking an opinion).

Updated review after the "Biggest Update Ever" patch of early 2017:

While I do get why many of the "nay" sayers are scared of change I can for the life of me not agree with them. The game is now even better than ever - for me at least.

The skills are more diverse than ever, the convoluted Omega system that required you to have a PhD in several sciences to make sense of and calculate the "best" route to go (and ended up having people use cookie cutter builds anyway) was replaced with a simpler, yet more rewarding, easy to understand system.

The movement changes can hardly be felt in every day gameplay and allow for more challenging encounters. Heck, I've 1600 hours on steam and about 1000 hours on their stand alone client clocked in - and after this update heroes that I hated playing now are real fun!

Don't listen to the haters - change is always met with resistance. Give it a try for yourself and see if you're having a fun time playing - because that's what games are about in the end!
