Great story based adventure... sometimes a bit to much dialogues... but great to follow. It's not difficult which I like too.

A beautiful game, sometimes nasty hard. But it's a lot of fun to overcome these difficult hurdles when you've done it.

And than, fun turns into frustration.

Fantastic sound (voices and music) and graphics! The controls and moves are quite complex and difficult to master, so, much too far away for me, therefore I play it only casual, for fun and stress relieve. For this, the price is too high, I got the premium edition reduced and I waited exactly for this. But if you want to play it competetive you will have a long and a hard time to master it (I can only guess here) and the full price may be worth it for you.

First some numbers:

The latest 100 negative reviewers here played the game 215 hours (mean) or 118 hours (median).
There is one who played 2388 hours and doesn't want to recommend the game! I did not read this one, so this may be just some kind of joke or humor.

On the other side there are games which are reviewed "Overwhelmingly Positive" like e.g. INSIDE.
Without calculating the exact values the typical positive reviewer played the game about 5 hours.

It’s not about comparing the two games, they are just different, but prices are quite comparable, about 20€ to start playing.
What I compare is the difference of mindsets of people reviewing the two games.

What you see here in the reviews is the disappointment of players about certain things, typically some very special part of the game or of the ongoing development, which does not fit into the personal wish list of the reviewer. Don't get me wrong, there is only Frontier to blame for that, not those reviewers. The reviewers just (mis-)use this reviewing system to put some pressure to Frontier, which is totally ok as it is not restricted by Valve.

But, as a conclusion, reviews here are nearly of no help for the question "buy or not to buy".

After these words I will try to do better:

If you are some kind of Elite veteran and already played and enjoyed it back in the 80s, than you will love this game! But if you are that, you will not read this, you already own the game!

If you are new to the genre of space sims its more difficult and much depends on you:
Can you enjoy
- an open world where there is no "do that", "now do this", "go there and do that", and so on
- a game where game play is nearly 100% your own responsibility
- a game where sometimes it seems to be difficult to find something next to do
- a "massively" multiple player game where you have days or even weeks without anybody else in sight AND where you can die in seconds seemingly out of nowhere by other players
- a game, where you will need some decent number of hours to learn the basics (it’s not about hundreds of hours as some people here claim, but let’s say 10-50 hours)
- a game where you need to avoid to focus on the primary game motivation, which is earning money, to have instead long term fun
- a game without a goal except the goals you set for your own
- a game where you have to study the official forum to become an elite expert

The above is what you have to put into the gameplay.

What you get is
- the best and most beautiful space graphics currently on market
- very good flight mechanics of space ships (I would say best flight mechanics but actually I do not have enough comparable other games)
- a fantastic atmosphere and feeling of flying a space ship through vast empty space emphasized by an awesome sound and music setting
- probably many many questions which you all get answered on the official forum from a mainly grown up and helpful bunch of elite players

If you think, ok, that’s not a good deal, too much money just for the basics and all is up to me, than go for something else.

But if you think, all that is fine and no problem, than go ahead, buy the game and play and have fun for years!
Don't forget to read the Newcomers Forum at the official Elite Dangerous forum. It will prevent the most frustrations you would have without.

A nice peace of computer art. If you like jazz and electronic variations you will have a good time. 30 minutes of art for free.

Early Access Review
!!! Important !!!
Currently it is not yet a game to play (you can already do some things), it is ALPHA and you should be aware of this. Don't buy it, if you want to play immediately! Buy it if you want to support its development and if you want to play it in future!

I say that, because reading the negativ reviews, it seems, that people do not understand, what early access stands for.

After reading all reviews and every information about the game I decided to buy this game to support its development.

The vision of this game, as I understand when reading about it, is exactly what I am looking for: a space sim with mostly player generated content. A really multiplayer experience in space. If it will be massively multiplayer can not yet be said as this is difficult and expensive to realise. But for the beginning, multiplayer would be enough, at least for me.

It seems, that Sirius Online aims for the missing parts of Elite:Dangerous, namely depth. The PvE (Player versus Environment) of Elite:Dangerous is not enough content on a longer time scale. EVE Online is to much spreadsheet and not enough active action. Sirius Online can be the middle course in between and thats what I am hoping for.

The current client is already very good to handle. Its easy to fly around and controls seems to be on a good balance. Flying around is already fun. Mining is also possible, according to other reviews, but I didn't try. So, the game now has a good base to build the system on top of it and fill everything with the game mechanics. Graphics and sounds are fine too but not yet on a current state of the art but promissing.

When you start the game, be prepared that the developer is somewhere around and talks to you. Giving input or asking questions directly to the developer is very nice and not very often seen. But if this game gains momentum it will be more difficult for him, to be accessible like that. So don't expect this in future.

Conclusion:
Promissing game idea and a sound base already available, but yet a lot of things to do. Buy it to help the developer to make it real.

To the developer: Great game, exceptional endurance. Stay on this path and we will be with you. Maybe you should consider to bring some more people into your development.
