The concept of "Early Access Game" is vastly understated given the developer has been working on this, and kept it available for anyone, for longer than most of the players have been alive. So, what does this version add?

Good Graphics, Frustrating changes for those used to "the old way," amazing music, nerfing of beloved glitches that have been around for years, faster world gen (tho new players won't think so), key binding customization, "Hard Mode" (wtf?), and a billion stories untold.

For the old hands, you won't be disappointed. For the noobies, you won't be turned away. It isn't perfect, it's still glitchy, it might crash, it's still early access (and will be for maybe another 9 years?), but it's dwarf fortress, and there is LITERALLY nothing like it in the world.

If you don't at least play the free version, you are missing out.
Just beware of Cat-splosions and tantrum-spirals.

A dark medieval strategy game that has a bit more going on underneath.

All puzzles aside, this is a strategy game at it's core. Build troops, send them toward their death, figure out which terrain has advantage over which (forests provide defense, for example. Mountains hit lower ground harder.) Think like a turn-based Warcraft 1. Even if it is sometimes confusing to a non-strategy game player like myself, the controls feel good to use. Pieces on the board jump at attention, mouse-click go CLACK, WASD to move camera, etc... Turns go quick and each scenario feels like it's meant to be solved in short order, rather than drag on like most 4X games.

Outside the main campaign, there's a clear ARG or Unfiction story unfolding which is evolving as the game grows closer to 1.0. The dev is dedicated and updates frequently. There are mini-games and story everywhere and I, despite my position, can honestly say I don't understand it all. If you're into that kind of thing, there's some puzzles to solve. If you're not, Hey, the base game is good.

Short. Sweet. Gameplay surprisingly fun. Nagatoro clone is best girl.

What we have here is a game so bad it's good.
Good: The manor is very pretty. The central game design is fine because it's Cludo. There's nothing new or novel here.
Bad: Oh man. The Manor Layout has no logical functions. In order to get to the kitchen, you have to go through the dinning room on the third floor, then out a door in back and down two flights of stairs. Some of the graphics clip. The errors are made more hilarious by how serious things are supposed to be, like a cyberpunk guy and red-ninja girl in an 1800's murder mystery. Honestly, the Bad is the draw of the game.
The Ugly: O_O No quality of life options. You cannot skip cut scenes, there are long one way hallways that are easy to accidentally click, and even if you turn down the volume in Windows Mixer, it does NOTHING.

Unless you have a flavor for bad media, skip this one. But if you do, this game gets funnier the more you think about it.

First Explore. Next Photo everything unsafe. Then photo documents. Then dive into the lore. Then try to find Morca. Next get obsessed with the weird ARG. Play it again and again, with red eyes and a mind like a conspiracy nut! Find all the endings! If you have a girlfriend, kiss her good by. If not, you'll forget that you're lonely.

Catching onto the gimmick in the early stages should be easy, but don't let it fool you. Superliminal is more than a one trick pony. Also, this has the chillest sound track. It is, however, a little short. 3 hours max.

At first, I just thought it was simple clicking. That was before my life changed forever.
The selection of skins was good, but nothing compared to the hedgehog in a sailor suit.
I played with Sailor Hedghog. Staring at him as I clicked. Eventually my eyes relaxed and I entered a trance. Sailor Hedghog began to whisper secrets to me. He spoke of hidden realities and the churning organs of the universe. Sailor Hedghog told me the truth behing identity and how consiousness is a lie we tell ourselves to keep back the terrible darkness. Then he told me that I could just use the number-pad and stop using the mouse.
Because Sailor Hedghog opened up my 7 chakras, I'mma give it about a 7 out of 10.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if left alone in a large house with nothing to distract you than your cat?

This seems like Yet-Another-Physics puzzle game, but don't be fooled. This is a meditation on the ennui of an elderly woman driven mad by grief and loneliness.

Day after day of letting the cat in and out of the house, she passes the time trying despretly to save the landscapes of her mind by building little puzzles to solve. A book shelf here, some twine and pullies there. Who's to say she can't? No one visits her and so no one can see.

You're able to buy other cats, but never at the same time. You can dress the cats with stars you either win or buy via micro-payment. See, after enough time, the old woman forgets what her cat even looks like. Its personality may change like it's clothes and the weather, but it still wants in and Grandma needs new ways to keep from going mad.

The number of levels is many, growing upwards and upwards. She only bought a two story house. Why are there so many floors? Is the house building itself? Are the puzzles building themselves? So many stairs, thinks the old woman. My hip could never take that many stairs.

So, in summery, this isn't just another clone of the incredible machine. This is a masterpiece of psychological expression. Maybe, one day at the top of the tower, you might save this poor old woman from the labyrinth of her mind.

Or get lost yourself.

Oddly hypnotic.

Once you start playing, you get the feeling that the game has nothing to offer you, but soon after your first job you start to realize you want more. It's less a game and more a meditation. A mantra. A tone in your mind.

Soon, you'll own your own truck. You'll desire new upgrade for that truck: A better paint job, More lights, Oh My God a New Engine, so on. You'll desire a bigger garage, higher levels to buy better stuff. You'll want to go everywhere, discover all the cities and fill all the gray roads (unexplored) with yellow (explored). It's...hypnotic.

The online streaming radio is a master stroke. It think that should be an option in all games from now on, especially driving ones. Being an ignorant American, the radio makes Euro Trucker feel like a figital tour of the continent.

My biggest complaint is most upgrades and trucks are level locked, requiring several hours of game play just to get the OPTION to buy what you want. It's hard enough to build up the money, why wouldn't I be able to buy an awesome truck along with that?

Flaws aside, I recommend you buy this if you like to sit and meditate.

A short, sweet, and to the point love letter to 1980's era games.
This was what it was like to play Apple IIe games back when I was a kid, right down to the glare on the screen.
A must play if you remember games on the Comadore 64, or if you wonder what it was like.
