I loved the first one, bugs and all. However, TGC2 was supposed to be a step forward, alas, i feel they failed. There are certainly some things they got right, but they just aren't enough to pull an upvote from me.

Wind.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. A double digit crosswind should blow the ball in the direction the wind is blowing. I've had numerous occasions in BOTH game where the ball just ignores the wind, totally screwing up a shot.

Putting.

I've seeng putting in TGC2 compared to putting on a hardwood floor, and that's a pretty good analogy. Even a slight tap can send the ball carreening accross the green.

Tempo.

There aren't words for how much i HATE this system. Fast, Perfect, Slow... whatever. Full backswing at the tee = Perfect. Full downswing = Perfect. Hear a "tink" ball goes 100 yards. I don't understand why they changed the previous system that in my opinion worked just fine.

Elevation.

Pin is double digit uphill against a double digit wind. I club up to compensate and the ball goes exactly the range the clubs says it will go plus rolls a bit further. So my shot is now several yards behind the pin, usually somewhere in the rough on the far side of the green.


I want to love this game. Really i do. However, there are just too many broken mechanics that should've been worked on more before release.

Lmao at the dev. He clearly only payed attention to the fanboy part of the community that sticked feathers up their behinds. Putting in TGC1 was not great. As from what I hear it's the same in TGC2 + that putting is like putting on a ice ring. Basically non of the critique from TGC1 has been listened to.

Most of these people complaining about TGC2 enjoy casual aracdy games, thats prolly what they grew up with like with Tiger Woods garbage. TGC1 was a pretty arcady game now this game puts a little skill into the game, once you stop complaining and practice i'd make sense.

Would really love an option to just turn of the Tempo mechanic so i can just get back to enjoying an otherwise pretty good golf game.

If i'm shooting into an 11 mph crosswind, there should be some effect on the ball. This game steers the ball with a little 4 mph wind.

The previous game didn't have the ball go crazy with a slight tap of the putter like this one does. It was a bit wonky at times, but not nearly this level of hockey puck on ice craziness.

Tempo, imo, removes the immersion i got from a game in TGC1. Instead of relaxing with a nice game, i'm constantly stressing and monitoring my swing mechanic. I don't expect to "crush the ball down the middle of the fairway" ( i slice much more often than i'd care to admit) but neither do i expect to have to base my gameplay around, "Fast, Perfect and Slow" rather than just my own skill with my controller. I spend more time looking at the bottom right of my screen checking my Fast, Perfect, Slow rating rather than just watching and enjoying the game.

When i get a Fast backswing but a Pefect downswing on the Driver, my ball barely breaks 100 yards. Maybe i'm wrong, but i don't view golf as a dance where i have to keep a perfect tempo to knock the ball from Point A to Point B.

I'm only using the Standard clubs as that's what the game default is and i figured that was good enough for me.

Wind - It is very easy to have a shot the cuts into the wind in golf.

Putting - This has been one of the biggest areas of praise from fans of TGC1. Not a whole lot has changed here so it surprises me that you don't like it if you enjoyed TGC1.

Tempo - This was added to add more depth to the swing mechanic. I suggest taking same time on the driving range to experience this and perhaps with the standard clubs. Much like real golf, just because you did a full swing, it doesn't mean you're going to crush the ball down the middle of the fairway.

Elevation - I can't speak much to this situation much as I'm not fully aware of the course settings, club settings or shot type and outcome that you were using.


I hope you take some time to get more familiar with the mechanics as I believe it's much more engaging that TGC1 was and hope you see that after time as well.
