Tremendous amount of replayability

I can describe this game in just three words: Butt clenching experience

Great game, took me 7.4h to complete.
I really like the spin and content created.

Pros:
+ great design
+ great story
+ time flexible thanks to ingame feature (forgot the name)
+ endless mode

Cons:
- you find the best "build" and you won't switch throughout the rest of the game
- not much additional content, but that is acceptable, since the game is on early access and new characters might be on the way.

Fun game and concept, but it need soooooo much work I don't even know where to begin. The game is not worth 30$ by the way. I was looking forward to this game for 2 years. It is a disapointment to me to see that the game has not reached it's potential.
Even though I cry here, I will still give a positive review with hopes that devs will work on the game. Just today was the first patch with first quality of life improvements.

Review update 04.12.2015
While I love this game, with the last couple updates it made it unplayable. I Have to say, the devs just stopped communicating with the community with the occasional "we are still here" or "hang on" comment in the discussion section. There was a promise of weekly updates, the game has not been updated since october, so yea, here you go. I have to change my review from recommend to not recommend just thanks to these facts. If there will be an update with more ones to come in the future, I will change the review once again, but in this state, I am quite skeptical about the whole projekt.
TL DR: If you're looking for this type of genre. Go on and buy Binding of Isaac, Nuclear Throne or something similar instead for now...

Patch #2.5 review updated

While I have played this game just in normal/easy mode, I think, I have experienced enough to write a little review for you guys, who are thinking of buying this game. For those of you, who are not keen on reading a whole paragraph of jibber jabber, here is my verdict. Even in it's early state, this game is very fun and worth buying, especially for those of you, who like games like Nuclear Throne, Risk of Rain, Binding of Isaac, etc.

PROS:
- awesome art style
- decent replayablity thanks to randomly generated levels and items
- variety of enemies
- fun combat with 7 unique playable characters with different playstyle and spells
- difficuilty ramping with every playthrough cycle like in Nuclear Throne
- time pressure thanks to The Redeemer
- potion problem fixed perfectly, there is now a risk and reward with a 50/50% and effects shown

CONS:
- fairly limited arsenal of items, but that is understandable, since it is fresh even on early access
- sometimes chaotic gameplay thanks to spells having too many particles, so the screen gets overwhelmed.
- in this state only 4 bioms with 4 unique bosses on end of each biom

NEUTRAL:
- some characters are better than others in my opinion, but I guess it deppens on players playstyle
- The Redeemer sometimes spawn on really awkward positions eq. by the entrance to the next level
- monsters don't react or get influenced by traps
- game is still in a state, where the core mechanics and features are in motion and differ in every patch


Keep in mind that this is an early access review and things are going to improve and change, I might update my review after some major changes, to keep it updated with the current state.

10/10 manliest movie ever
