1. Most stable Civ Multiplayer launch (low bar)
2. Civilization complexity and novelty
3. AI actually seems to interact.

CON:
1. Era’s suffer from feelings of whiplash,
2. Modern era is just a rush to the end.
3. Game concepts poorly explained.

Micromanagement the game. A basic level of crew AI or awareness would be enjoyable (space crew is superior to this)

It's lovely, it's cute, and it's fun with friends. Stonewheat and sons have done an amazing job.

Update: 04/23/2021- They... made an OVERHAUL patch to address pacing and many other issues.. my word, the developer gets a thumbs up for this alone. Well done, Rebellion, well done!.

Update: 04/14/2021- They certainly are updating frequently.. these are good signs for the future!

I... love Evil Genius as a concept. I loved Evil Genius 1 and there have been many improvements since.. but there are just so many missed steps and cut corners. Did Rebellion try? Of course! But maybe the energy needed to be spent in other areas.

The big 4 killers for me:

1. Lazy writing: Duplicated writing for genius dialogue. Emma would not speak like Max, Max would not speak like Ivan.

2. No Player Guidance: I'm all for not hand holding but lets give even a slight clue as to what the loot will do. Riddles can be fun.

3. Time sinks: The bloody game has time sink after time sink. It.. gets... boring...

And the worst

4. Agent Heart break reporting for duty: There is no real meaningful or clever ways of ending the super agents.

The creme de la creme that might have made me change my thoughts about Evil Genius 2, the big drive that would have kept me going till the end, was building up to and hoping there was a gratifying end to each of the super agents. It was a wish that never came. An example: You reach the end for one of the villains after 4 side quests locked behind 4 walls of missions. You have built annoying tension but it could be worth it... but then you are tasked to make them slip on a bar of soap trap. No, not a specially designed mutant, super slippery bar of soap that keeps them sliding for eternity in a fake vault while you laugh and grow your morale. You say a dialogue.. You make a super agent slip on a bar of soap.. and then they are gone. It's a James Bond Dr. No Era style super villain game and you end a super agent on a bar of soap.

Overall: Right now, the game is 6.0-6.5/10 and that is only because it wasn't the so called industry standard of $69-79 CAD. If it was I would have to, maybe, give it a 5/10. I hope they take the comments to heart and smooth out these things (or.. hint hint.. allow mod support for pretty much free updates) because it is a shame.

The game is fun up until you reach higher "levels" of duty. Regretfully it begins to add difficulty by just throwing more and more incidents at you rather then making harder choices. It is sometimes okay to have nothing in an area... gang warfare, a train crash, a drug lords base, and a plane crash is a once in a century event.. not every second shift.

A nice, relaxing, and quite comical game. Highly recommend it for a couple of hours of fun.
