To begin with, Jimmy either consciously or subconsciously knows that he will never marry a woman as beautiful as his mother. It took a near perfect specimen to seduce her, and Jimmy must see that he did not inherit the vital energy that flows in his fathers blood. Everything about Jimmy is so absurdly lesser than his father, except supposedly his intellect. However Jimmy's brilliance only makes the situation even more tragic, as he is able to deeply contemplate what a pathetic creature he is, and fully comprehend his cursed existence, all while staring at one of the most beautiful men ever to grace the planet.
