I'm not a person who follows the industry or hype very closely, so I had zero expectations going into this game. I just saw a cool looking cyberpunk game an steam, thought it looked fun and clicked buy. I can't speak to the game living up (or not) to any hype because I never heard any hype.

That said, I had a blast with this game. I personally did not experience the bugs that others did except for minor glitches here and there, ones which in my experience were perfectly normal for a modern game a few months after its release (when I bought the game). Anyone who played Skyrim and accidentally sold your thieves guild armor before the patch that gave you access to a fresh set will know what I mean. Again, that was my experience, and I don't have a rig that's anything special apart from a low-end NVIDIA card.

My point here: if you think the game looks fun but are worried it is somehow a dumpster fire with a nice trailer, that wasn't my experience at all. I felt the story was pretty fresh compared to other major games I've played and while it didn't completely blow my mind, it was fun and different. Gameplay felt like a blend of Skyrim and GTA5, but different enough from both that I didn't get bored. It will get repetitive eventually, as all games do, but I've clocked about 180 hours as of this writing and am still enjoying the experience.

While not every scene in the game has the same level of quality (and I've never played one for which that is true) there are a lot of moments where I was genuinely surprised by the acting quality. Some moments felt authentic and raw in a really sincere way that's hard to describe. Not everyone is putting on a tough guy act all the time, you can see flickers of doubt in people's eyes, not every emotion is exaggerated. Note: Keanu is responsible for literally none of those good moments, but does that really surprise anyone?

Sorry to all those here who felt like they didn't get what they were promised, but I am not one of them. Personally, I got a way better game than I expected and had a really fun time with it. If you were ever a fan of the Cyberpunk genre, I say give it a shot.

PS: The driving mechanics in the game are genuinely pretty awful, so don't buy this if that's your major selling point.

Easily one of the best games I've played in a long time. It's unique, interesting, and fun. If you like XCOM, you will like this too.
