Got it on sale 50% off. Still not worth it. Wait for a big sale...
Unless Elden Ring has spoilt me for games... This isn't fun or immersive at all.
What happened CD Projekt Red... Urgh

What an absolute pleasure to (re)play!!

I first heard about Half Life from a friend of mine in grade 8, 1998. A strange game about a theoretical physicist and some experiment gone wrong. I didn't get my first taste until a month later when I stayed over his place on the Christmas Holidays. It looked amazing, felt amazing and was so damn fun I didn't want to go home lol.

From that point on I was asking my parents if we could get a PC for home, mostly for this game but I told them it was for school (we were a middle class family and PC's were expensive) We didn't get a PC for many years to come..

I heard about half life 2 years later and thought about that old game my friend had and it re-ignited a want to play it. At this point in life I only had an original xbox and was playing games like halo 1. I knew Half Life was a PC exclusive game and probably would never get to play it at this rate.

A few years later again, I had bought my Older brothers old PC to play Call of Duty 2 on. (The first game I ever owned and played on PC, what a golden time of online multiplayer) I didn't get Half Life 2 until the Orange box was released. This was before steam was really a thing and back when buying games was very different. Bought it at the shop, went home and installed it immediately.
Finally I was playing a Half Life game. Half life 2 was, in my eyes, one of the best games ever made. But I still hadn't played the first one all the way through. So I started looking for it in the game stores, EB games, video stores, everywhere. I finally got it around 2008 and played it exclusively for about a month.

I then started seeing on forums that 'Black Mesa' a remake of Half Life on the source engine was starting to be developed. This was about 2009 or so.. I followed it religiously, I got the free mod release of the game in September 2012, played it. I bought the game when it was released on steam, played it. Then bought it again when it was officially launched by Valve and played it again.
I held back to review until I had played the full released version with xen. A series of extreme life changing events prevented me to play until recently.

And this morning, I finished the game. Now I need to go back and play Half Life 2 again, for the possibly 50th time.. It was well worth the wait and well worth the price. I don't remember the last time I felt the way I did while playing Black Mesa (especially xen) Probably the first few times playing Half Life 2, all those years ago.
Now.. I'm an old man... (37 lol) I was a young man when half life 2 was released. Yes, I still have hope for Half Life 3. I think most half life fans still do, deep down.

From one fan to another, Thank you for the Half Life series to everyone involved. It has been a blast!!
Happy Crowbar'ing, my fellow scientists

Garbage. Launcher won't load, keep getting errors and tried all apparent fixes. Can't even get a refund. Thanks Square Enix
