This isn't an easy review. As the game still has several bugs and a terrible UI. But the UI is manageable if you are somewhat presistent. It takes a bit of fiddling in order to figure it out. My main annoyance was the fact that I couldn't figure out how to replenish my ammo. Highly annoying in a game where bullets play a key role. Yet in the end I managed.

The rest of the game is great. While the scenery is great and the animals behaviour feels realistic, I like the fact that you're not being help by the hand. All hints and tips can be disabled and the game leaves you alone to hunt. That is exactly what I needed on a grey saturday afternoon. Just let me walk and stalk a whitetail deer for 15 minutes, and focus on taking a kill shot. In the same line, the game gives feedback on your shot and hunting skills but again without smashing it in your face. After collecting the kill, you get a type of score board with all the information. Perfectly ignorable, not advisable if you want to become good and are sick of following a blood trail.

All in all, I've decided that I like this game. The required focus and yet the casual manner that you're allowed to play in make this a game for casual players and people that really want to master it. I would recommend this game as one of the better hunting games currently out there. But we'll have to be honest and agree that the competition isn't that steep. Adjust your expectations to average and you'll have an enjoyable experience.
