I have to say this game has come a long way since it was first released where i was thoroughly disapointed. This game has very good production value. I would like though that the graphics settings would allow a higher setting for 'draw distance' because I in this game like a lot of other games really dislike obvious texture pop-in (having the best train track textures only appear slightly ahead of the train i'm following is so annoying).

It's a glorious time for train games (Mashinky, Transport fever 2, Railway Empire etc..) after a long time after Railroad tycoon 3 having no new and at the time modern games to play.
Railroad tycoon 3 is still the master game to beat (maybe because of nostalgia), but this comes very very close..

I think track laying and signals work fine. It would have been nice though is the were a setting for the distance between 'auto' signals because the standard setting could use some more space.

What i miss from this game is some better UI windows for the economy of trains and industries.
Also it would be very good to have the ability to build a warehouse in cities with the same functionality as the ones you can build outside cities that works either as a distribution center.

In a 'strange' way i kind of like the decision made by the devs to keep this to steam trains. Though apparently there is one diesel train included.
I like the time periode and it is a joy to hop on board a train and enjoy the scenery rolling by :-)

So i'm through part 1 and 2 of the campaigns and ready to pass on a few comments on the game so far.
I will most likely update when the game receives updates.

Me, i have played this genre of games since Railroad tycoon 1 on the Amiga.
Until a few years ago i held Railroad tycoon 3 as the game to match in this genre.
Then, some years ago, we got Train fever and later on Transport fever 1, Railroad empire arrived and coming along fine is Mashinky. So it is a great time for the genre.
Transport fever 2, Railroad empire and Mashinky all have a different take on the genre and therefore each have their bright points and less bright/bad sides.
By the way, basicly i recommend all three games :-)

Since this is about about TPF2 my comments for game:

This game has been changed/optimized since it's origin in Train fever and come some way.
The graphics is nice and work well. There are some minor negatives though, not really bad, but a little odd that buildings are used freely between the 3 continents. Also as an example cargo stations in 1850 has electric light posts and euro pallets....

The game has well working mechanics to manage your transport empire. Signals work well.
One could of cause always wish for more.

The game could use some better more detailed track/road building functionality.
But what is there works okay.
However i don't understand why a double track feature has not been implemented. It would be such a time saver.

Keyboard and mouse controls work well and are 'responsive'.

Motor vehicles have issues, but are in line with todays standard. Specially i get sad when seing that vehicles don't overtake slower ones and just pile up on multiple lane roads. But this is something other games also struggle with (cities skylines..).

I do wish though that it is should be possible to zoom out further. On big maps the zoom level is not enough.

I miss that the developer has not included some well made quality maps to play.
Except for the campaign, the game relies on the map generator and what people publish in the workshop.
It would not be out of order to expect some nice quality maps handmade by the developer.
The map generator just creates random generated maps with no clear logic in where industries a placed. You have all types industry placed random amongst each other which makes no sence in 'the real world'.

I enjoy the campaign. It is good at teaching the game basic elements.
There are however campaign goals that seem rather odd and not very well explained.
It would have been nice if the campaign maps were available to play in free game mode.

Late game for cities shows issues. The game could use some better road tools and the way the game auto generates the streets and the growing cities are not easy to align with good traffic flow. The game developer really needs to focus on this for future updates or a TPF3

The game has bugs, but the developer is active on working on these.
I haven't personally found anyone that are a deal breaker, only rather annoying.

I also wish they would implement some higher graphical settings.
I 'love' going into the FPS view for the vehicles. But the graphics doesn't do all that well with textures pop ups in the near horizon and shadows. The drawing distance really need to be higher.

Overall i recommend the game.
My biggest let down with the game is that the developer has not included some quality hand made maps. Besides that the whole city growth issue is also a rather big concern.

Fantastic gem of a game.
Just rediscovered this after having played it many years ago. I properly still have the install cd/dvd somewhere.

Graphics still okay by today standards, but simple.
The recent HD upgrade to the game is great, and the UI interface is okay at least on 1080p. I havent tried on higher resolutions.
Modern games should take a look at this interface. The X-series and similar could take a note or two from this game concerning game UI.

The game is fantastic.
Moving around in space commanding capital ships and fighters/bombers. Upgrading the ships as you go along with new parts and enjoy.

I'm looking forward to finding nice mods for the game after completing the campaign.
This game just begs for a 'The Expanse' mod :-)

The game is great, and i'm hoping very much that a Nexus 2 game will be made. Until then i will be looking for the spirituel succesor.

The game could use a free camera movement and a mission tactical overview monitor like in Homeworld for setting way points and such. But besides that, there is not much missing considering the age of the game.

I received this game for free because i help translate to danish.

This is my first review on steam after being here for many many years. That is how excited I am about what this game hopefully will be when "finished".

Since this is early access i write this about the present state of the game.

Needless to say there are a few bugs. I actully only experienced the bug that causes new games to not be generated.
Or at least my patience ran out, because the process indicator stopped showing any progress.
This has only happend on the two larger map sizes though, not the smaller one.

I have been playing Tycoon games since the Railroad tycoon 1, and have been hooked since.
I have also been looking for at worthy successor to railroad tycoon 3 for many years. Could they just release a remaster with an updated engine i would by happy. But now Mashinky is here :-)

Graphicly there is a lot to be happy about. Though at present it lacks some actual human beings.
But there are animations for loading/unloading trains and the ressource industry have animations.
I think the graphics high point so far is that the game world seems rich on trees, greeneries and such. This is what I am missing from other "open world" games like this (looking at you Transport fever). This makes the game interesting to me.

The finance model seems okay so far. I am however a little bit in doubt about the various tokens.
I feel that one currency should be enough and the better choice, but I also appreciate that the various currencies makes it necessery to have a varied transport infrastructure.

Micromanagement so far is undetermined. I hope that the game will have features that makes micro management not a problem later in the game running 80+ trains and such. The railroad tycoon 3 option being asked about wanting to replace an old/broken train was simply and easy.
Also the fact that in railroad tycoon you could change the setup of the trains at the stations made micro management not a problem.

So far i'm very happy with playing the game and crossing my fingers for the future.
