I saw the mixed reviews and some some playthroughs of the game, I decided to pick it up.
I do enjoy this game very much. Game wasn't developed by Paradox Interactive, only published, and to me that should give this game plenty of leeway.

There are some points that are rough around the edges but actually a really good 1st release for the company.
It requires a different mindset compared to jumping in a game of Civ or Stellaris but from someone who hates tutorials, I managed to pick up the game relatively well and evolve strategies based on the feedback from the game.

It's enjoyable, requires a different mindset, and still a 4X experience and imo much much better than Humankind.

My one wish at this point would be to improve the diplomacy feature as that feels like it's lacking and doesn't give much dynamism.

Final levels do what all Ukrainian or Russian games do, and that is - make it very f**king precise to the point of annoyance and the only way you can figure it out is through either forums or extreme luck after smashing your face against a brick wall.

If you are loyal to the emperor, this will be fun killing mutants. If you are not, then you shall die with them.

This game has no right to be this fun. This would be a grand ruckus if there were many drunk individuals using this as a means to settle a score or choose a future adventure.

I would highly recommend, if not for the derby physics, then for the amazing soundtrack.

HUGE improvement from the previous. I enjoyed the quirks and shenanigans of my antics with the security officer. Truly a game I wish I never woke up from. Never ending fun and excitement that kept entertained and thrilled to my very core.
This will be tale I tell my children one day.

One of the most realistic experiences about alien invasion I have ever experienced. This game kept me engaged and enthralled for nearly half my life. The days of building a relationship with my dog are event I will never forget. The day they took my grandpappy will forever be scarred into my memory, and this game helps me heal by reliving that same experience.

Actually really good narrative. Some of the "puzzles" could have been better thought out, but all-in-all it was a fun experience.

Side note, I hate the ocean and ♥♥♥♥ crabs....

It feels rough around the edges and has a few UX issues. But if you don't let those bug you, it's easily a game you can lose an entire day to and not even know.

Definitely more fun with at least 1 other person as the monkeys can get a handful having them automate your base without a second set of hands.

I've played AoE since it first launched. AoE II was easily one of the top 3 best of its time. Definitive Edition is a massive improvement and fixes many of the flaws the game did have. If you love RTS or if you'r itching for an RTS of yesteryear that stands the tests of time - Grab it.

I'm total scrub but 'tis really fun. If you don't get rage happy, go for it.
