Nice evolution of the Men of War formula with lots of quality if life improvements and a lot of content for all 3 factions. Game is a lot more arcady than Gates of Hell with worse atmosphere. However, it is overall good compromise between company of heroes and Gates of Hell, def recommend as the core gameplay loop is very fun.

one of my favorite ww2 rts games of all times with a focus on the eastern front. The depth of the game is amazing, and being able to play this as a traditional rts or a first person shooter as an individual soldier or tank on the eastern front. The game has a variety of maps and great dlc, which includes Finland as a 3rd faction

Keeping track of how many bullets each soldier has, the fuel on tanks, the damage modeling on vehicles is all amazing.

I would strongly advise anyone against buying this game as of 2/28/23. I have played 20 hrs of this game and that's plenty of time to make an educated overview of all the problems with the game.

The largest issue is that the game is fundamentally unfinished and should have been released in a beta state. it is missing fundamental RTS features such as:

No profiles to see stats or match history
No ability to view leaderboards in the game and no ranked matchmaking in multiplayer
No surrender option for when you're losing a game
1v1 only has 3 maps, one of which is terrible, only two 2v2 maps and 2 4v4 maps. After playing 20 hrs I have played every map multiple times already
The game icons are peak laziness with many unit icons being recycled from coh 2 and many units are missing portraits and icons.
No player in-game list
The soundtrack, voiceovers for units and the graphics are a significant downgrade from company of heroes 2, a 10-year old game. Overall the game is technically unimpressive.
There is no observer mode or replays, meaning that you can't even rewatch games to learn mistakes

the new total war-esque campaign is terrible, with extremely passive AI which rarely attacks. It's not a total-war esque campaign, more like a linear campaign with scripted events with a total war interface.

The only saving grace of this game is that the gameplay is solid and feels good for the most part. The game is at best worth around $20, do not recommend

Great game with good progression and interesting puzzle solving. reminds me of a combination of Metal Gear Solid for PS1 with resident evil 2 gameplay

This is an amazing game that really shows the complexity of the situation in postwar Europe. It really complicates the narratives between victims and perpetrators, and uses a microhistory of a small village to weave a compelling narrative about the early postwar transition from Nazi occupation to socialism in Czechoslovakia. The acting and the voice lines are also top notch.
As a history professor, I use parts of the game in my Cold War History class
