Worth waiting for, like, 1,5 years on that 75% off. Coming in practically blind, just saw a few minutes of the first Goosebumps (modern one) movie. I also played Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland demo, back in the 90's.

Anyway, if you're fine with kid level of scares, and want a fully voiced narration by the marvelous Jack Black - get it. Even if it's the only reason you wanted to try this game.
Actually, I forgot what was the name of the character Jack Black voices, so when I booted the game up today, I *barely* recognized it was him. He's so good it's crazy, bruh.

It's pretty fun game, and I'm more tempted to see both Goosebumps movies now.
Especially since Jack Black is in them \m/

Don't do it.. Don't crouch and rotate camera to either side of your character.

No really, I'm serious. Don't.

Got it on sale few days ago. Since then, all I've seen of this game was
Message of the Day:
AUTHENTICATING

which basically means their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "meToo!™" account system can't properly
do whatever it is that it's doing, and let me even interact with Main Menu, let
alone play.

Unlinking Beth account did nothing, no answers on forums, or anywhere.

Edit: Went through everything tech support suggested me; no dice.

Unless I figure out a way how to make this junk work, this will remain my first ever negative review.

Ps. I hate to leave a negative review especially for MachineGames' title, but this issue appears to be around for years, also in Doom: Eternal or Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
And yet, mine seems to be an isolated case, with no clear answer as to why it's happening.

Will probably attempt to run this again on a new OS, someday.

On January 27 it was announced that Mike Dies will be delisted "soon", due to developer shutting down.

It's a very cool platformer with some great voice acting, and no - dying shouldn't deter you from exploration.
Sniffing around the secrets lead you to more levels with hilarious names. Altough there are no Steam achievements, there are collectibles (including fully voiced Audio logs) that the game keeps a track of.
Also "Slow Motion Deaths" option (with an added zoom) that you can toggle anytime.

Remember Angel Beats! episode 2?

It's getting delisted on March 1. I was reluctant, but I couldn't leave this game alone, somehow.
Really, it's a charming and well-made platformer with modern features.
Easy to pick up and play, fun.
Get it while you can.

Oh and, if mid-game you wanna back out to the Title screen, you get 2 options: Yep and Nope.

I mean, Deus Ex: GO this ain't, but it's probably as close as it gets, gameplay wise-ish.

If you couldn't stand the void left after finishing Hitman: GO Definitive Edition and Lara Croft: GO, and having no Deus Ex: GO on Steam.. which will probably stay that way, this one's a pretty fun puzzler to fill it with.

I still think that the sound used for punching enemies is lewd. This is fine.

You can't perform the contextual action (punch, that is) on some enemies.

This is not fine.

I'm jelly just thinking about a possible sequel, that's how much I loved Planet Alpha. Sure, many complain that all you do is just run, jump, and run some more.

But that's what platformers are about; in Planet Alpha you mostly run, jump, climb, push/pull some heavy blocks to solve a few environmental puzzles (they're a nice touch) all the while trying to survive.

That is, you're not under a constant assault, but our silent hero is pretty much a pacifist - so at times you'll need to use stealth, and don't step on snek through a tall grass to get past some armed enemies, and sometimes you'll need to literally Forrest run to save your ass.
And in between, you'll be using slabs of stone, small or big, to help you navigate and progress through this highly inhabited land.

Said slabs of stone can serve as portable cover to protect yourself from enemy fire, and can be dragged along as you move. Climb and use them as a stepping stone to jump up to a ledge, shimmy along and find your way through the more tricky structures.
You can't drag grass, but you can drag them stones to get by without alerting those happy trigger-finger hostiles. Just be careful when you move, stone normally stays still, after all.

There are also a few collectibles to be found as well.

So what's so great about all that?
It's that smokin' beautiful, remote alien world that the devs conjured up and madly mesmerizing original Soundtrack.
Now the environments in the game hold up on their own, the OST can be enjoyed outside of the game, but only when the two are combined can the whole thing come together to create one of the most aesthetically appealing platformers in recent years.

The ambience, sounds of non-hostile creatures you'll encounter, backgrounds in the far distance to gaze upon all add to the feeling of being where you've literally never been before.

However, don't expect blockbuster storytelling and Twilight tear jerkers. You're dropped into an unknown world, with no pamphlets or newspapers to tell you what the hell is going on.
Here, you make it up all on your own till the end. That being said, this kind of experience might be a hit or miss, if you're not the elastic type.
This game is for you to chill, reflex upon and give not a care in the world about what you're doing, be it Alpha world, or your own.

So play it slowly (it's not the longest - cherish it), just go with the flow, let the OST sink in as you run, and stop by every now and then to slap that screenshot key swollen. And don't worry, in-game there'll be plenty of time to stare at things before you decide to move on.
