CULTIC is a love letter to boomer shooters, drawing inspiration mainly from Blood and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The art style is unique and gives it a distinct look. (The skybox in this game is gorgeous!) The gunplay is great with pitch perfect sound design and those headshot slow-mos... *chef kiss* It's got a weapon upgrade system too which manages to keep even the starting pistol relevant throughout the game. The maps are sprawling with lots of secrets to uncover and great feel. Enemies have a good enough variety, from Blood cultists to WWII Stormtroopers with even a few Stalker snorks. To be clear, I'm referecing those games to give you an idea of what CULTIC calls back to, not to paint it as derivative since it does a lot of its own things. And what great things those are!

Now for some *minor* improvements that could be made... This game would benefit greatly from a map (if it marked upgrade tables and locked doors that'd make it perfect). The maps are not as labyrinthian as Hexen, for example, but at one of the later levels I did spend a time going back and forth trying to find where I should go. I'd like for the ammo pickup radius to go up a notch since at times it felt like I had to step precisely over them to get the resources. And please, don't make me watch a cinematic again in case I die at a boss fight, it's doubly frustating.

TLDR; CULTIC is a great boomer shooter that looks familiar but is its own thing. Just play it, you won't be disappointed!
