If you're like me, then you generally hate roguelikes because they are often done wrong, making you work hard for something, then snatching it away with a cheap death, ending in frustration. This is not one of those roguelikes. In this one, you don't feel a sense of loss from losing, and every playthrough provides at least some gold to purchase unlocks to let you get just that much further in the next playthrough. This game is well done, and well worth the full purchase price.

I purchased this game as a Founder, had thousands of hours played, and hundreds of dollars invested in the game. Then, in late 2020, it was purchased by Gameforge from EnMasse, and they chose to only notify recently active players. A baffling decision, to be sure, as email costs nothing. Anyone who was taking a break or hadn't actively logged in received no notification. Anyone who was not notified did not know that they needed to migrate. Anyone who didn't migrate had their characters deleted. Permanently. No recourse. This is not just my story. Many people who were taking breaks at the time report not getting any email. Some report having store receipts from September 2020, but no email about the migration.

Gameforge will tell you that they legally required your consent and will try to pin the blame on En Masse, but they could easily have gathered the data from En Masse to determine just how many players they were affecting and tried to mitigate it. There was an active choice to not contact those of us who had not been active within a certain time period, and they had to have been involved in that. If they weren't, then that just speaks to their incompetence as a company in writing agreements, and should be avoided for that reason alone. That is the caliber of this company, and that is the kind of treatment you can expect if you spend any money on this game. You, as a customer, will not be valued.

I have fond memories of this game, but that is all they will ever be, now: memories. The blame for that falls solely on Gameforge and their business practices. Not only does this game get a hard "No." from me, this company is a hard "No." as well.
