(conversely, Cross of Iron's normal multiplayer campaign doesn't have a strategic map, it's linear, so take that into consideration)

I looked into the CC remakes on matrixgames.com and either Cross of Iron (German invasion of Russia) or Wacht am Rhein (Battle of the Bulge) would be cool. Either of them is a $28 digital download. Wacht am Rhein would be the more interesting subject matter to me, but Cross of Iron would probably have a more balanced campaign (and it also has persistent online campaigns that anyone can join and participate in, which is pretty interesting).

No I haven't really used Xfire for over a year now, SteamFriends usually covers my IM needs. I usually leave it on all the time, but with my computer out of commission at the moment I can only log in via the website at work.
