Company has started using A.I for their latest game. Either you already know why that's a bad thing or you live under a rock/are willfully ignorant.

Honestly I'm not a music person so I can't give any good objective or subjective input, I just like how it sounds.

A cute assortment of critters and curiosities to adventure with you as thanks for supporting the incredible team that made this game.

Oh hey, the devs are collaborating with Palworld, the same dev team that put out a party game based around making AI 'art' and has a CEO that has a massive erection for generative AI in general.

Way to take a dump on the creative community that made the game what it is today.

While there are some absolute stinkers (looking at you, Combatants), each person is going to find at least a handful of games they will really enjoy due to the absurd variety offered.

Many of the longer games still end after around 6-8 hours of playtime and can leave you craving for more or for a version that's more fleshed out and polished, but at the same time it's kind of refreshing since so many games these days overstay their welcome, dragging on longer than they needed to. There are also plenty of titles in UFO 50 that offer a fair bit of replayability that I could see myself booting it up to just play a few rounds (like Bug Hunter, House Party and even Magical Garden)

Anywho, it's 7am and I haven't slept yet, I just wanted to 'make number go up' to please the steam algorithm for this title, knowing that most people just rely on negative reviews to get a good gauge of what the game is like (if you know, you know)

I'm tired and can't be arsed to write an actual useful review nobody will read but still want to make number go up to please The Algorithm.

(Little slow going, but the oldschool aesthetic adds a lot of charm to the game)

Incredibly fun and honestly underpriced! If you enjoyed vampire survivors but want something with a little more bite(HEH) or like schmups/bullet hells, you'll love this.

Just note that it isn't a roguelike, it's a shoot em' up/bullet hell and has more in common with games like Smash TV and Contra than games like DCSS, -Mystery Dungeon style games and so on.

It's owned and developed by gearbox now. It also undermines the tonedeaf 'triple-I initiative', though that might actually be a good thing.

On paper, this dlc looks amazing, from a neat map, interesting new power ups and characters, to good music.

In practice it all goes to hell from the sheer amount of visual noise, a problem the base game has had for a long time, with it only becoming a true issue in maps with terrain that blocks your movement. Some may say this is part of the appeal to the game and I almost want to agree with them, but when there's too much ♥♥♥♥ on the screen to see the environment 7-10 minutes in, or be able to pick out what the new weapons are actually doing or even LOOK LIKE half the time.

The new contra-themed powerups are kind of lame too, with one being a shield that breaks in one hit (so it's gone right after you pick it up), a weaker rosary and something that sort of looks like you gain a fiery aura that I still confused as to what it's actually doing (the rapidfire pickup actually fits in nicely though, filling an untouched niche).

Finally, maybe it's just powercreep and it was designed in mind with that along with players defaulting to the strongest tarot effect (can't remember the name for the life of me; gain max health when defeating enemies with retaliation damage and gain more damage based on how many individual health points you're missing), but the first map feels overtuned, with enemies being able to stick to and swarm you to death rapidly if you aren't using something like the greatest jubilee for item drops to stay on top of things.

The use of AI generated voices and admittance to using it for generating 'ideas' and 'concepts' to work off of in their latest dlc means I will likely never touch another paradox game again.
