I would give mixed review if it was an option, but right now only way to turn people and devs attention to what is wrong is giving a negative opinion unfortunately.

Having a race as a main campaign quest was such a bad decision it's unbelievable that no one has told the team during production to not do it. There is no option to turn it off and enjoy the game as a sandbox. Once you do the quest and realize that there is no reward for that aside from unlocking one character for multiplayer there's 0 reason to do it again aside checking out other factions up to turn 80-100 and then switching to another.

There are optimization problems and bugs but I have not noticed anything game breaking, aside from Slaanesh faction where researching Everlasting Gift technology makes your mechanic work against you. There is as of the time of this review a patch that would fix it still.

There are also battle gameplay changes that make WH3 inferior to WH2. Units have hard time leaving close combat if you order them to, which makes cavalry near useless. Infantry feels sluggish aside from certain units that are designed to be fast. Large portion of the battles now are siege battles, not only against walled settlements but also small settlements that require you to use your massive army to find way in corridors of streets and capture points. At first I thought that this change is good but after realizing that size of armies in Total War, line of sight and pathfinding isssues make the experience vary from mediocre to miserably bad. And those are majority of battles now, pushing the open space, large battles that define Total War into backseat.

Finally faction balance. Khorne faction mechanics are good. So good that if you play it you will feel that there is no challenge at all and game turns into auto-resolve sequence. This happens to other factions as well where at certain point in late game when rifts armies and amount of enemy factions that want to kill you are mounting into insufferable amount of chores to do instead of fun gameplay.
On the other side of the spectrum is Nurgle, who must have been sabotaged by the devs. On every level this faction is having hard time. Untis are extremely slow, economy is atrocious and cycling buildings mechanic plus recruiting units at half capacity makes it feel incredibly bad to play compared to any other army in the game. When other factions can already recruit full stack top tier units Nurgle might be not even able to recruit one yet and won't be able to recruit another for a long time.
Demon Prince army is dragged down by its leader that despite being all about customizing him for combat is very easily killed by enemy. Not that customization means much because devs have put in the set bonuses into game and they completely kill the idea of making your own demon prince. You don't have much of incentive to find best stats for your hero. You just want to unlock the set and put it on. 0 imagination and fun.

I can't say only bad things about the game. I enjoy playing it but not as much as TW:WH2 and it's staggering to me how many steps back and bad decisions were made and after three weeks from release there is still no patches that would fix most glaring problems. I will change my review to positive when:

- Mortal Empires are out or at least we will be given an option to turn off the attrocious main quest. (Done but IE could be better in terms of balancing starting positions. Some lords are only playable with mod changing their starting position.)
- Game is better optimized and campaign map stops slowing down the game. (Somewhat done)
- Units sluggishness and Nurgle faction is fixed. (Done)
