TLDR: Quite fun, great presentation and style. Nice and fun retro styled shmup to play through over a weekend.

Basic gameplay loop works pretty well, and the story is just right for the games scope. The music, visuals, and controls are what sells it. I also never had any performance issues which is always a plus.

The game asks you to repeat levels to get through the full story with all the endings. However the different routes and difficulty it gives you make repeated older levels get new additions and alterations so it's not overly repetitive. The unlocks and customization for the ship are surprisingly extensive, so thats another way to alter the gameplay between (and during runs).

It's already gotten some updates with new enemies and modes so it will be interesting to return to it over time and try out different stuff that gets added.

Simply one of the most interesting Roguelite games I have played in a while. The pigment system is excellent and is paired thoughtfully with the character and enemy mechanics. Its overall just a fun game with even the most simple choices potentially having huge impacts, and runs can vary wildly in how your team wants to win. The story and characters are also pretty great, though incredibly dark and morbid. The art from spritework, to sound effects, to animations, and of course the fantastic soundtrack is just really well done.

My only minor complaints would be that some mechanics are intentionally obfuscated so its hard to tell what will happen during your first encounter with certain bosses/enemies (though for the type of game that it is YMMV on this idea). It also has a few UI interaction rough spots with the out of combat party lineup and item distribution. There is also a decent number of RNG elements in the game, which can be at times frustrating, but I acknowledge is probably for the best design wise since it opens up a lot more turn to turn decision making.

I haven't encountered any major bugs or crashes during gameplay which is always nice.

Overall its a great game if you love strategic turn based gameplay, roguelite stuff, morbid/dark humor, and great pixel art. Strongly recommended.

Fun but not a perfect game. Movement and combat are enjoyable, the story is enjoyable, exploration is enjoyable. All of these different aspects have flaws with some stuff being a little underdeveloped, but overall it doesn't detract from the experience too heavily.

The most fun is to be had in enjoying the little stories in side areas and the larger and more frantic fights in the main quest.

The game also runs and looks great on my older system. No crashes or long load times either.

If your looking for a good singleplayer experience I would def pick this up.

Its a fun coop looter shooter. Pick it up for free with some friends and play through some campaigns or coop stuff together. There is lots to explore and do for new players, if you find yourself wanting more then buy the expansions or whatever.

You can play the game solo but it is much better with friends.

PvP is fun but not for everybody, same with gambit (PvEvP): both are also much better with friends.

Early Access Review
Generally: This game is fun, it is better with friends, as the primary gamemode is based on duo battle royalish gameplay with a heavy PvE focus. The weapons and equipment are different from most games I have played and the twist on the genre is unique, interesting and plays very well.

Bugs I have noticed are pretty far between and its overall a smooth experience.

The way that PvE, PvP, character progression, player progression and world design all link up is well thought out meld very well together.

The art design is great, enemies and other players are clear in the environment but don't stick out and everything looks nice, even on low settings. Best of all in the game is the sound design, which for a game where stealth and information are emphasized is necessary, but the Hunt really excels on this front.

General gun play is interesting due to the vintage style weapons used (revolvers, lever and bolt action rifles, shotguns) and the weapons feel good to use. Melee combat also feels nice and weighty, though sometimes lag makes it feel a little awkward.

Constantly having to make decisions on the fly, gathering information about the NPCs and other players, maintaining stealth etc... make for a very fun game. Permanent character death gives encounters just enough extra weight, but the inevitability of losing the character means it doesnt sting too much when you do.

I would recommend anyone coming from the Battle Royale genre to check out this game for something different. The game emphasizes stealth and planning for encounters, and clear constant objectives keep the gameplay flow feeling good. Available weapons are pretty different from other more modern shooter games and offer a great change of pace.

Not worth the money, pretty simple.

If you were hoping for a game already integrated with the rules for the game you wanted, instead of having to download a parsing tool and manually do it yourself, youre out of luck. Unless you play 3.5 or PF

The only thing this program is good for is if you are willing to sink tons of time precreating everything you want through a frustrating and non user friendly UI.

I would only reccommend this game if you were really into preparing and teaching a clunky program to your players to do something that could probably be done more easily over skype.
