I paid full price for this game when it was under Sony because I believed in the ideas behind the game. I was looking for an alternative to DayZ as we know that it will never be finished. They told us that the game would be free to play and not pay to win. As you can see, they have lied on both counts.

Under SoE, the alpha actually FELT like an alpha...tons of updates, stuff changing all the time. The game was literally being built around you. Then this daybreak nonsense happen. The game came to a halt and is now being sold pretty much in the same state as it was years ago. All they have really done is split the game in two parts to sell it twice.

One half was supporting the bloodthirsty teenage Call of Duty kids (king of the kill). And the other is the Just Survive portion. The King of the Hill segment was originally just an extra fun thing to do on the side using event tickets that were found in the main game. It became popular for streamers to do it on twitch and generated more money, so it seems that all of the devs attention went there which left the MAIN GAME pretty much ignored.

The "Just Survive" portion of the game has now been ignored and left in the state that it has been practically since release. It doesnt even feel like a zombie survival game. Its pretty much a slightly better version of DayZ with tacky base building. Overrun with hackers the game is now pretty much empty. Instead of whining about all of the failed expectations of this game, Ive come to a conclusion:

We should all just stop buying games in early access alphas...

What they are really offering is a game "as is" but hide behind the excuse of being in "alpha" when people start to complain about the state of the game.

They have taken our money for an unpolished game. Do you think they will spend that money we spent to make drastic improvements on the game? Probably not.

I'd really like to see some statistics on early access alphas that actually end up satisfying the customers expectations.

customer - "Hey this game is ♥♥♥♥♥ for tons of reasons!"

devs - "We know man, Its still alpha."

2 YEARS LATER

customer - "Hey devs, your game still has tons of problems, and starting to look graphically outdated now too.."

devs - "We know man, its still alpha."

In my opinion, we as customers need to stop funding these teams through steam that call themselves early access alphas. If you want people to test your game. MAKE IT FREE TO PLAY then ASK FOR DONATIONS.

You would be surprised how many gamers (including myself) would donate money to a dev team with real aspirations aside from making a quick buck off of community starving for a game in this genre.

Instead, they charge us full price for an unfinished game, capitalizing on the hype of a dream that will never be realized.

They have already fufilled thier goal in making millions of dollars from us. It would be foolish of us to expect them to stay motivated in making a better game when theyve already sold it to us. Ask yourself - In 2016, with MILLIONS of dollars given to them for the development process, is this game of a high quality standard as it was promised to be? Infestation did it better...

STOP BUYING PRODUCTS BEFORE THEY ARE FINISHED. WE AS GAMERS ARE TO BLAME.

If you want a refund you can always talk with your credit card company and tell them to perform a "chargeback" for the transaction done for this game. Reason: "Service not provided". Because these scammers are just playing fool everyone.

Before you do so, tell support of steam you are going to do a chargeback. If they don't give you a positive answer, don't argue. Go to your credit card company and your money will be back to your credit card.

We live in 2017 and scamers who are defended by companies that support sellers not buyers such as Steam can't just fraud people. You are allowed to ask for a refund to your Mastercard/VISA/Amex up to 3 years after the transaction was performed.

@Jabernathy90 My 400 hours represents the reason I chose to write my review. I have a very solid look on this game and that much is clear. Did I have good experiences within this game? Yes. Did I have bad experiences with this game? Yes. After spending my hard earned time and money on this game you can see that I no longer play it at all. Would I recommend a game that I no longer play? I thought about it before I wrote my review. The game, in my opinion, is not worth the money. I'd take a look every once in a while if it were free to play. As it stands, I cannot recommend this game to new customers.

Think about this... Was the price of the game(when you purchesed it(until you stopped playing) worth the experiece you had? Would you trade every experience you had in the game for all of your money back? I think we both know that the answer is a difinitive no. You have 400+ hours into the game. Think about this next time you decide to write a negative review.

@Eowiraniel I know what retro is. I was making a joke. But anyhow, I hope that you're right with the graphical updates as well as content updates. Personally, I just dont see it happening. I'd love to be proven wrong, but the fact is I just don't have faith in Daybreak until they give me a reason to. So far, the transition from SOE has provided some pretty severe disappointments. If im wrong in the future then ill change my post and continue playing.

They said Free To Play, but they mean after they have it finished, so it should be free to play in the future

Usually retro gaming is based upon systems that are obsolete or discontinued. Retro gaming has three main types; vintage retro gaming, retrog gaming emulation, and ported retro gaming." Do I need to comment on that?

Definition of outdated: "no longer useful or acceptable : not modern or current" How can that be when the game is not even released, and they continue to update it both graphically and gameplay/mechanic wise? (just FYI, new engine is not yet fully implemented and many mechanics are not in the game yet.) Definition of Retro game: "Retro gaming, also known as classic gaming and old school gaming, is the playing or collecting of older personal computer, console, and arcade video games in contemporary times.

Eowirraniel, you may be correct that dayz will be finished in a few years, but to be hoenst id GLADLY eat my words to see a final product for the money I spent. Also, a few years and that game is gonna be sitting in the retro category just like this garbage. It already looks outdated as is.

"...DayZ as we know that it will never be finished. " hahahahahaha, so many people gonna have to eat their own words again in a few years ;)
