I suck at Zomboid and it turns out I suck at this too.

Fun game though, the turn based element really works well and night time is paranoia inducing.

Not a bad remaster, there's some scenes where the games colourful shaded graphics don't really suit higher resolutions but it's noticeable rather than off-putting.
Marking the location of the main quest and timed side-quests is VERY welcome, tales of games are notorious for miss-able side stuff and it's really annoying having to use a guide to see where and when in the game you messed up.

For some reason I immediately had access to the GRADE shop with lots of points to boot, generally this is something that unlocks on new game+. If anyone else sees it, IGNORE IT for your first time playthrough else you risk ruining the experience.

It's supposed to be based in medieval Japan yet I don't see any black people.

Quite impressed with this, I thought it was just a linear you play as legion where the campaign was just one mission after another. Nope, the campaign has multiple layers to it like Church's campaign, you can research, build and prepare for the missions in the same sort of way. Your forces are unlimited but your shackled by power reserves, which makes you play conservatively in a different manner. So far the game seems generous with it but Legion's forces do have some disadvantages, it only dawned on me just how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow the Homunculi are.
It's also post Church's story so it's good to see that being continued.

Qudos to the studio, this game had a bit of a rough launch but they've managed to keep it interesting!

Played this on the OG Xbox back in the day, an absolute quality survival horror with some decent mechanics. In particular the trust and fear system behind your squad members feels faithful to the movies, since the paranoia of who is/isn't your enemy makes it more tense.

Zero fun.

The what if/branching paths are so uninspired it would've been better to not have them at all. Some of the paths in fact just end and have no implications, for example if you fight Raditz alone and beat him that path plays out the saiyan saga with the difference being the Z fighters are still alive. Frieza then invades earth and if you beat him... that's it. There's no affect on subsequent sagas because apparently they don't happen on that path.

There's lots of missing battles between characters that were present in literally every other dragonball Z game.
There's no versatility involving combat, combos are always the same, you can't customise or swap out the skills of a character which means they get boring real quick. Transformations are 100% pointless because you can just start off as said transformation since that's a separate character and you always do in the story mode.
Controls are god awful and clunky, the AI cheats with absurd reaction times and randomly gets free super armour even when being attacked from behind, which the game literally tells you that's a vulnerable point that can't be defended against.
The characters themselves are so horribly balanced that there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to use anyone in Z, when all the Super characters are straight up broken.

Once you've beaten the character stories, there's literally no reason to play the game. You've got the world tournaments but they're dull, and are basically just three matches. You can play online if you fancy getting disconnected and going up against fusion characters but that's it. Dragonball Z: Kakarot had an open world and optional bosses to fight, hell Budokai 3 had optional fights and small branching pathways, skills to unlock and levelled challenged. This pile of crap? Nothing. If this is what's in store for the Dragonball series then holy crap it's over, especially since people are meat riding this turd.

P.S Great Ape Vegeta isn't tough, get gud.

While they've done a great job with the atmosphere, range of options to enhance the experience and overall challenge, this game runs like a fat kid in a half-marathon. Vaulting over obstacles, opening a door, viewing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map frequently causes the framerate to drop to 3fps.

Wait a bit before purchasing since this game is in dire need of a patch.

It's supposed to be based in feudal Japan in the 1200s, where are all the black people?

Early Access Review
Pretty damn good for early access, there's a lot of strategic elements and planning but the best bit is the map generation. Choosing any location in the world down to its street name and have those details generated like you're using google maps, just means you'll be back for many playthroughs.

Also you can get revenge on your ex/workplace by destroying their building, what's not to love?
