An unexpectedly stellar game that I only vaguely even know existed. I'm so glad that I picked it up on the Steam Winter sale. It was absolutely a candidate for game of the year for me for 2023. As a kid I played the Mega Man X games on SNES and later on the original Playstation. This game perfectly captures the pace and feel of those early Mega Man games and takes it to another level. Similarly to how Hades told a story within a roguelike, this game has depth I think many people missed. After a first successful playthough (which will take a while) subsequently playthroughs slowly unlocked a fun story through a wild multiverse.

The gameplay was always challenging but fair, and each run through a new strategy could be used to try and get further and further in the game. Fun weapons, item sets that unlock different character colors, risky prototypes, pets, armor upgrading, and two player characters that are fun and fast paced. Incredibly tight controls and platforming alongside an increasing difficulty as the game progresses through the levels, this game is truly fantastic. I can't speak highly enough about this title especially if you're someone who enjoyed some of the previous Mega Man X titles.

This game is nearly a 10/10 for me. A couple minor gripes having to do with too much randomness and one poorly designed boss, I cannot recommend this strongly enough. Now I just can't wait for the next one!

As a kid I loved all 3 of the Escape Velocity games. I spent a couple of days looking for something to scratch that itch in a modern setting only to find this game. Endless Sky is a great modern take for this genre and so addicting. I haven't been able to put this game down since I found out it existed. Will definitely play this game until I've seen and done everything. My only wish was that this game actually costed money so that I could support the game to be pushed to full time development. I would absolutely love if this game were made with a larger budget and expanded into a major release.
