Early Access Review
I can't recommend this game at its current stage. I really enjoy what it wants to be, but I really don't see any guarantees that the AI is going to get the overhaul it needs to make the game playable. Currently base development and battling hinge heavily around Pals and their automated work, but it sucks. They don't account for terrain obstructions at all and are always getting stuck on things. This severely limits difficulty of enemies and strengths of the player's own pals and makes base management increasingly more difficult as the base becomes more cluttered with things for pals to get stuck on and filled with untoggleable, unprioritizable tasks. Currently there is some amount of control players may take by manually lifting and placing down pals or removing them and redeploying them if they're in the midst of a long-term task but it's extremely clunky.

Not even Super Early Access ready, no idea what's going on in the current stage, might easily take years to be made playable if ever

A bizarre game. It's a pretty generic, simple city builder with no real commitments to what its actually going for, and occasionally just throws in strangely contextually specific buildings like farm landlords, tenant farmers, and catholic suburbs (don't ask me why) without having any mechanics or population dynamics that actually make those details important. Gives me the sneaking suspicion I'd be supporting some creeps if I bought the release title.

I've been waiting pretty eagerly for Disjunction since I heard of the concept and especially since I tried the demo. I'm a big Deus Ex fan and there are a lot of things I miss about the older concepts and design philosophies of the 90s and 2000s. Disjunction really makes an addition to this legacy of stealth-action.

So far I have only been ghosting (No combat, full stealth) and I am really happy with the possibility but also challenge of doing that approach, as in Dishonored, or, to a lesser extent, Heat Signature. The story has been very reactive to the level of stealth as well as dialogue choices. I feel an appreciation for the characters as you meet them but also as your craft their in-game approaches and dialogue responses, really feeling out their struggles and principles.

The soundtrack philosophy also hits the spot for me. It is somewhat ambient but really distinctively entrenched into the tone of the game. I am currently beginning Joe's story, and really feeling the anxiety and dread of his scenario come through the music as he embarks on an existentially last-ditch investigation as to why his life was shattered.

Disjunction is a fantastic signal of developers seeking to continue worthwhile traditions of the past, and I hope this game will also revitalize expectations of deep storytelling woven with engaging gameplay for new audiences.

Just play Kenshi it's better and more thoroughly developed while going for the same concepts.

Factorio is one of the most earnestly developed projects in modern gaming. It is in my top ten as a game itself and is everything I wish to see in the industry as a whole int terms of how the devs have treated it. Hands down my favorite crafting and automation game.

My play time basically says it all. Forager is not just a wonderful game, but Hop Frog is one of the most hard-working and responsive devs I could ever dream of. Their presence on the discord is constant, and they are extremely considerate about feedback. The updates are also massive.

Forager itself is a unique experience despite borrowing from many different genres. But your progression through tiers of tools and magic and how you synergize them is anything but straightforward. It will take you a while to figure out the routes that you like best, but quite soon you'll be cackling at the power of how your schemes have culminated, ready to rise to greater and greater challenges.

Most people call this a "chill and relaxing" game, but if you have more of a speedrunner/100%'er mentality like me it is anything but, because there are a million ways to compress your progression. It's really quite versatile in the kinds of experiences you can get out of it.

This game will probably always be in my top 5 games overall. It is not just mechanics, as many modern strategy games default to, but it is a game seamlessly weaved with a story that has a beginning middle and end in the manner of Alpha Centauri, though even more tightly controlled than that. My fist successful completion of the first scenario was full of tears and awe, as I got to completely empathize with the struggles of the city. My mind was challenged, and my heart was engaged as deeply as I could ask for.
