I bought a game on steam - You allowed the purchase and play on steam. Then several months later you are telling me I have to give my information to Sony in the form of an account...or I lose access to my game? Thats a hard pass.

One of the best Fighters I have played in the last half decade - Good customization - Skills - Transformations and good online fun with friends. Pick it up on a sale. Some of the DLC is also worth it.

Kaori After Story is an After Story to the Kaori Route of Ace Academy. So I should start by saying if you haven't played the route; Get out there and read through that route before you read the After Story.

~So onto the review~

Kaori after Story is fun and immersive. The choices are great as is their variety as I have come to expect from Pixel Fade.
I personally Found the use of the Live2D to have improved slightly from Crystalline. The background art was quite well done; I enjoyed the new scenes - it helps that I love Christmas and Snow as well. I enjoyed "meeting the family" and found the general interaction between all the characters to be quite good- Nice flowing chemistry, nothing felt forced. Voice acting as always continues to be a strong suit; Kaori was perfect and her family felt 'Just Right'. (Especially her sisters). The OST was also quite well done; and fitting to both the story as a whole and specific moments.

As far as time goes I would say if you take your time and enjoy it 4-8 hours (reading spead) So the price is also reasonable.

To generalize
    Pros
  • Good Art
  • Good Ost
  • Live2D
  • Fun and Immersive story
  • The Amount of choices and their Variety
  • Good Voice acting
  • General Solid Enjoyment
    Cons
  • No Valerie After Story yet
  • I wish it had included a time skip to Kaori and MC married with Kids
So in summary if you Enjoyed Ace Academy ; and played at least Kaori's route (play them all!) This is for you. Plus you get to see Kaori in motion with Live2D!

Poi~

After playing through PIxelFades Ace Academy; and learning of Crystalline; I jumped at it and grabbed myself Beta access.

I have to say I certainly do not regret my choice. Crystalline is a bit different than Ace - their are I suppose 'routes' in the sense that your choices matter - however you have the chance of only romancing one character or I suppose no characters

The story premise in and of itself isn't world breaking.. But the way they have gone about telling it; it both immersive; and enjoyable, also you still get a fantastic array of choices that shape the dialogue and certainly add many aspects including great humor - Or your groups displeasure if you select Amy lol

The music is great as well ; it fits to the scene and it doesn't 'feel' repetitive or forced. The BGA is at times a tich redundant; however its very well detailed even when redundant and I hardly really notice it.

The Art is a step up from Ace Academy - both in sprite form and overall in my opinion; they have also added 2dlive which I feel have really made this Visual Novel Story far more immersive I hope to see more VNs with the 2dlive engine style. Also it is fully voiced (aside from the MC) and the voice acting is very well done.

I feel I must make further note on the Voice acting; in volume 5; I didn't think it was possible for it to improve as it was very well done already, count me proven wrong. The Voice acting added so much 'power' to certain scenes I couldn't help but mention it.

I should note upon writing this review the Mini-games aren't active but..I can't want to actually play the mini-games they should be quite fun.

My only complaint is the lack of what i feel is a proper explanation of what has happened with the MC and his Romantic interest in the true end- it felt 'lacking' with no details explained as to what happened to them together, and I would really like something added to correct/improve on that.

If you like a good story...good characters , fun powers and good art + music or heck if you just liked Ace Academy ;) I would highly recommend you pick up Crystalline.

Review is up to date as of Volume 5's Beta

Game started losing players.. Company doesn't listen to players..game loses more players - game is trying to compete against other high powered titles . Nexus abandons the game and doesn't really make a big note to let everyone know... Its January of 2018 by the time most know the game is officially written off. Meanwhile they dragged players along by the noses about new patches and content after say patch 1.4 ruined aspects of the game. Now there is no one to play with and the Publisher has dumped the game; and there will never be a refund for anyone of us.

No players

No publisher support

Games finished.

The OVA is extremely well done with the quality ive come to expect from NEKOWORKs and Sayuri. The story follows Much of Vol. 1 ; with some nice additions and add on scenes. (Such as Bell/Permit training) and of course seeing the entire story animated itself is a plus all on its own. The music is great; much like the visual novels it fits the story and characters perfectly. Additional scenes; such as seeing all the 'new' characters from the backer rewards added a nice 'fresh' touch to the OVA as well and they were excellently presented from observing the cherry blossoms to the finale Backer character ordering a Shortcake.

All in all this is exactly what I expected; an hour of just sitting back and enjoying Nekopara the Animation.

If you like 'Neko Girls' or just General comedy with a touch of romance, with great art and music - this is most certainly worth your giving a watch.

Neko/10 glad to have backed it and hope to see more OVA's in the future. I would expect more Romance along with the comedy if they do produce or crowd fund further ovas
