I really wanted to play this game, but it constantly froze, save games wouldnt load, menus would glitch out.

Solid Room game. Short but worth it.

Mind how many hours it says i have played, i left the game open. Should only take a few hours to beat. maybe 4 or 5 at 100%. First let me say they at least went back to the old style of 1 and 2. Which is a good thing. 3 was horrible. Read my review on that one if you want. But i will say this felt...lazy. the monsters repeated through the entire game without much difficulty increase. the puzzles were 1 dimensional and you never actually needed many of your abilities. I assume Frozenbyte still has the same management from when they did Trine 3. You could tell the developers had ideas for the other abilities you never use, but nothing ever came of it. For instance you can throw stuff, but why? There is a bouncy ball you can cast, 100% never used. You pretty much just grapple your way to the end and put some boxes up to grapple too.

The game play is pretty which is to be expected from a Trine, but the animation sequence's are meh.
The narration isnt always what you see on the screen in the letters which is just poor dev. But the narrator is good and there is alot of narration which is nice, sort of like your playing a story that is being read.

Ultimately this felt like DLC content for Trine 2 and not really a stand alone game. Idk maybe I expect too much but 10 bucks an hour for game play seems expensive to me.

Overall its a complete game which is more than you get out of Trine 3. But its short and nothing spectacular. If you are reading this trying to decide to get it and have never played a Trine game, buy 1 and 2. They are amazing. Then wait till this hits under 10 bucks and pick it up.

Overall Rating 7/10, Would I recommend - Yes but play Room 1/2 first so you get the story line. Also they were the better of the 3 games.

This game looks great! As did the first 2. It was fun to play and nice to have alternate endings.

Now let me explain my -3 on the score.

-1 point : This felt...Tedious for most of the game. The puzzles did not seem as intricate as the first two iterations of the game. Alot of the mechinisms were repeated and there was alot of just running back and forth.

-1 point : The alternate endings were time fillers, you have to do the final (most agrevating) puzzle every time with only 1 difference.

-1 point : Because the alternate ending movies didnt even play. You walk through the portal and then the movie freezes and then you are at the ending screen.

So is it worth 5 bucks, Yup, will i ever play it again, Nope. But i do find my self going back and playing the first 2 from time and again.

Awesome game. The artwork is amazing, so is the sound track. Controls feel well and work correctly. I got this game on sale, but its worth full price.

The emersion of the story line was perfect and also super sad. Definitely will pull on your heart strings a bit.

10 out of 10. Also if you are coming to this game from the Trine series. Trine was really good and fun. This is EPIC compared to it.

So where to begin. If you have played the previous Trine games you are in for a bit of let down with this one. I got Trine 2 from a friend when it was on sale. Trine 2 was an amazing game. I got immediately hooked and played through the game in a couple days. Trine 3 however as you can see only took me 6.5 hours to beat at 100% completion. Probably could do it in 4 if not for the 100% and 2-3 if not for the wonky controls and weird 3D. Trine 3 steps away from the standard 2D side scroller that was Trine 2 and tries to incorporate 3D. Its different, not horrendous, but not very welcoming either. I could take it or leave it. However its what makes the puzzles difficult. The controls because its now a 2D/3D hybrid are wonky. It plays like the original Mario 3D world from way back. Again its more different than horrible but because its literally the only thing that adds to the game play time its not very welcomed. They also for what ever reason removed the tech tree and most of the characters abilities.

My biggest issue with this game, is its unfinished. It literally just ends, and not like oh I can't believe they ended the story like this. It just stops. The story says something to the effect only a few more to go and this adventure will be complete. Then BAM rolls credits. It would be like watching the matrix and they get to the elevator seen and half way through the bullet time they roll credits.

I read a post from the Dev's with their horrific attempt at apologizing. They should have said instead of trying to make people feel sorry for them they spent so much money on developing the game, "Hey everyone thank you so much for supporting us through the years. We are so regretful that we released this game unfinished. Due to poor project management and gross neglect on our part we have failed you as a Development studio. There is no excuse for this. It is our hope you do not hold this against us because you are what made us successful. At this time we do not have any plans to continue this serious but will at the minimum put out a graphical ending to the game free of charge."

Idk even then I would be a little aggravated...

So if you are with me thus far. Let em also say I got this game on sale. It is 100% worth what I paid for it. But for anyone who paid retail. Im sorry.

With all the negatives this game has, it is graphically stunning and crazy artistic. You can stop and look at any area of the game and it could be a wallpaper. They also improved the character models which was a nice add.

Overall because this game was incomplete im going to give it a 4/10. If you played the series pick it up to gather some more of the story. If this is your first engagement into the serious DONT BUY THIS GAME. Buy Trine2. Its half the price and 10 times the game.

I dont generally take time to write reviews. But this game is worth not only my time to write a review but your time to play. If you like steampunk, puzzles, escape rooms etc. Pay the money. Its worth it. The second one is def a bit creepy compared to the first. Both are totally awesome and are worth it. The puzzles in the second seem more straight forward...but they arnt. They will have you questioning yourself on if you missed something...and you did.
