Every bit as good as the first, with some new stuff thrown in. Lots more land exploration and base options.

Early Access Review
I absolutely adore this game... and you should definitely not buy it. Sadly the devs hit some setbacks years ago (I guess the code was lost to some sort of IT related incident?). And it just never recovered. I dont think theres been any development for years, and its still in a VERY early access phase compared to what they were promising... honestly it needs to be taken off steam and just make its death official. I've had a blast every time Ive played it where there were actual players, but... thats just it... no one is playing. Its a MP only game right now and theres no one to play with. SO much potential, all thrown down the drain. The devs flew too close to the sun I guess...

What an incredibly broken pile of crap with a positively ancient game engine. Check out https://steamproxy.net/app/489830/discussions/0/282992562608905989/

The physics engine is actually tied to the frame rate. Thats tech games left behind decades ago. Imagine loading into the cart intro to have your cart flipping around, upside down, twisting, going insane... in VR. Instant motion sickness. You have to tell the physics engine what your frame rate is with an ini hack to fix this. Incredible. For a game BEING SOLD FOR VR WHICH ALWAYS RUNS OVER 60FPS... Then you better hope your rig can maintain constant frame rate at whatever your VR goggles support, because if it drops there are warnings it may cause issues after you just 'fixed' the physics engine. What a joke.

FIx that, index controllers just stopped working. No buttons work. Couldnt move, couldnt use menus. Changed NOTHING but the ini tweaks needed to fix the engine.

Uninstalling and refunding. This wouldnt be worth $5, let alone the sale price, or god forbid full price.

Nailed the asthetic and environments. I can just look around for ages. Really taking my time moving through the game, but not feeling its slow paced at all. The combat feels great (similar to Onward perhaps, but more half-lifey). Guns are nice, with solid upgrade paths. Difficulty exists without being overwhelming (though I probably would do one up from normal if I could choose now). Only minor complaints are somethings feel like they SHOULD be something you can interact with but you cant. No big deal. Freaking loving this game, Valve NAILED it.

I got this for buying an Index early. Im checking the got for free box but honestly not sure thats fair given how bloody expensive the index was... ah well.

To start, this shouldnt claim both Vive support and tracked motion controllers support. It only supports oculus controllers, so as an Index user I'm out of luck. Secondly I can live with that, honestly I have a nice joystick setup and would probably prefer that anyway. However its the LEAST intuitive interface I have ever dealt with in my life. No indication of what you should press to activate things in VR (space by default, and I havent figured out how to change that yet which is an issue since thats also thrust on the keyboard). I also havent figured out how to pull up any kind of menu in-game to change controls. So that means alt-f4ing (cause I also cant quit without a menu), restarting, changing keys, then reloading. Craziness. The game looks great, and may be fun as hell, but the dev sure needs to learn a bit about user experience. I bought this a while back before VR was supported so even if I had the option I would have no call to try for a return, but I think its important to understand these limitations if you are hoping to use this in VR (which, you should, it has insane potential I think). Im going to keep plugging away at it, but... frustrating.

Oh, one other thing. It can ONLY use inputs from one joystick at a time. So if you have, for example, a T.16000 with throttle, you cant use both. I am using a VKBSim Gladiator Mk II and T.16000 for dual stick setup and had to finally learn to use VJoy to combine them into one virtual stick to get this working. Also kinda unacceptable for a game.

This is one of the best games I have ever had the privelage of owning. It is endless fun, and the devs just keep adding to it through the years.

Early Access Review
One of the worst games Ive wasted money on in a long time. If it were truly just a crap premise it wouldnt be so bad, but no. It had incredible potential. It was ruined by devs that cant code their way out of a paper bag. Bugs that go unfixed for months or years while they add in new parts that arent necessary. Parts that were in from the very beginning still dont work right in MP and have sometimes catastrophic effects so that they might as well not even be in the game unless you just want to play SP.

No, stay away from these people. Fooled me once with Miner Wars, and twice with this. You will never see another red cent from me.

Really thought this would be some good, silly fun. Honestly I just find it kinda boring, though. Not a whole lot to do. Maybe get it during a steam sale for a couple bucks.
