As a fan of the original Resident Evil games, i really enjoyed this one.
Possible spoilers ahead:
I have always enjoyed the story development throughout these games the most, so even the "worst" ones had a special place for me, if the story made sense in this new world order with BOW's as the leading weapon industry. Even though some of them became a little too "manga" in the style. I'm looking at you RE0, 6 and revelation!
I liked that they tried with new main characters, with the old ones as mentors. If you don't give much thought to the realistic biology of.. well.. anything... it's an intense and scary survival horror game, with the best of Resident Evil 4 and 7 combined.
Definetly spoilers ahead:
The only things i really disliked about this game were:
1. The weapon upgrades like in RE4 and 5, which i have always disliked in pretty much any game. I mean c'mon! a colt revolver with 24 bullets in the barrel with no gun modification of any kind?!?! At least the old/remake games had weapon modifications which made more sense.
2. The connection to Umbrella and Spencer which was more of a footnote just to mention it, than an actual plot. I could believe a splinter organisation more, than an old immortal mentor to the founder of Umbrella.
All in all, a vrey enjoyable game in the series
