Beautifully made game

Maybe one of the best games I have ever played. Really lets you sink into the game and forget everything else for a while. Grab a friend and have a blast :)

Having not yet tested MP, the SP campaign certainly was a joy to play. The game becomes challenging and fun at the higher difficulty levels. It took me over 14hrs to complete the campaign, and while a little too casual at times with buggy AI, overall it was very enjoyable.

This game is very rich in its environment. If you're like me, youll spend hours just exploring the open world. 10+hrs in, Im still in the first section of the game

it has quite nice visuals but the game itself is just punishingly unfair to a degree that it is just not fun anymore.
I dont know how often you have to try until you make a successful run, but after 6 hours i never made it to the later game, always after 1-2 hours tops i would simply die out of bad luck. also there is no real progression you will always start with the same simple stuff over and over again.

I can only give my best recommendations to this game!
Its one of those games that have that special something to them: The art style is absolutely lovely, the game is well thought out and gives you room to explore, with its unlockables each playthrough can be a little different and the wit and fun in this game is purely fantastic.

Yes, its one of those games that gives you something, you never quite forget.

Another 3 months later I can say: The game has matured.
It now is actually a game I like to come back to. I would say 95% of everything works,

While the game itself is lots of fun now, here a list that needs improvement in my eyes:

Change the art-style!
A few patches ago the game all of a sudden got a very comic-y look to it, that I'm not a big fan of.

Still no detection of my mobile GPU. 860m is not an uncommon graphics card.

Matchmaking controls, menus, etc feel heavily inspired by consoles, not great fun to use on PC

Still not able to punish toxic players

Checked back after 3 months due to moving, university etc..

After 2 rounds: The game all of a sudden feels amazing. Many little changes and tweaks for the better. Smooth gameplay.
Actually changing my review to positive -for now- much more testing to be done, but looks promising :)

Testing in Progress, preliminary review:
had a really annoying bug where i was stuck for a whole minute after vaulting over a window
(sometimes!) better hit detection
newly introduced horrible rubberbanding, where you are randomly pulled a few meters back
still subpar server performance, lots of people with ~100 - 60 ping, while CS:GO achieves low 20s
hitboxes still a mess sometimes
Vaulting over objects still too strong, messy hitboxes + too good an aim
better server sync between players
matchmaking errors: randomly getting thrown out of the matchmaking cue
random 3 second freezes
lobbies still broken
still crazy team killing no way of punishing such toxic players
still disconnects
aweful new artstyle, making the whole game look somewhat cartooney
worst of all: even worse performance than before, newly introduced crazy frame drops from ~62 to below 30 fps, on all low settings @1080P
game still wont detect my mobile gpu (geforce 860m) from 2014, this game was released in 2015!

EDIT:

Operation Health has just been announced! An update schedule that is foregoing the regular DLCs and comes three-fold:
Networking, Balancing & Matchmaking
Update & test servers
Bug-fix sprints.

While I would have liked to see the HongKong DLC this month, I must admit that the development team is making the right choice there. I am very happy that they now focus on the game breaking elements, before continuing delivering content to the community.

I will leave this as a negative review until we can see actual changes happen for the better. But my thanks to the developers, for keeping an eye on their community and actually trying to deliver a better game :)

So first of all: This is not a bad game!

In fact, I am enjoying the gameplay a lot! Its competitive, can be brutally hard but gives enough freedom for smart and cheeky play, something I have fallen victim to quite often ;D

What brings me to the negative review however, has nothing to do with the gameplay, but virtually everything else:

A great game that is being broken by sloppy programming work, network, servers, balance, lobby control and so forth.
The Ubisoft-servers are nothing but a cruel joke, pings that go into 3 sometimes even 4 digit territory, random disconnects, broken lobbies that just sit there for an infinite amount of time, without connecting, virtually non-existent balancing of teams, a netcode that does sometimes not even register the shots you fired, no option to punish leavers, trolls or just ignorant players, the ubisoft launcher which functionality-wise is just a joke!, and other things that I fail to think of at this time.

That all together can make for a very very bad experience playing the game. SOmetimes you can even go for a day with everything failing consecutively. So you end up without even having played one proper game the entire time.

While I really love the gameplay, I cannot consciously recommend the game at this time. I hope other reviewers share my opinion and force ubisoft to fix their broken mess, which they're trying to sell close to full-price!

Expect to write furious hate comments in the forums about how crap this game really is. yes, you will use any swear word up your sleeve and accuse anyone of being a straight idiot, who is not of your opinion!

expect to be punished vigorously no matter whether you were prepared or not.

expect to throw your mouse in the next corner and dont look at this game for a week.

but i can promise you, you will be back!
