This used to be great!

Now it's an echo chamber for disenfranchised racists to spread hate.

This is the game Sonic wishes it could be. Imagine Sonic if it had good level design.

You can keep your looter shooters, big AAA open-world games and grindathons. THIS is how you make a game!

This game appears deceptively simple at first glance, but this may be one of the most well-designed and ingenius games I've ever played. This game is BURSTING with charm!

Buy it!!!!

I'm not sure why this game has so much hype.

The production quality, graphics and voice acting are all obviously up to AAA standard. The voice acting is especially brilliant - some of the best I've ever heard in a game. It's certainly well made. The audio design is fantastic.

However, as a game, I just don't think it's very good. It doesn't play well. It doesn't seem to direct you very well as a player. Most of the time I have no idea where I'm supposed to go. I keep randomly dying to NPCs and the Alien itself, but usually without any kind of visual / audio warning. It all just feels a bit clunky.

As for the horror, personally, it just really misses the mark for me. It's feels stale and predictable. The build-up is monumentally long for a horror game, and the payoff is such a disappointment. As an avid fan of horror games, I can say this is probably the least frightening game I've ever played when accounting for the time year it was released, hardware limits at the time, budget, setting, etc. If you want a better game and a more frightful experience, maybe stick to Dead Space, Resident Evil, Outlast, Amnesia, Subnautica, Evil Within or Penumbra.

Misses the mark for me. If you're easily scared, you might enjoy it.

Brilliantly well made game! This deserves a way bigger following than it's getting. It's criminal that this doesn't get the attention is deserves. The gameplay is mixture of turn-based strategy and Hearthstone. Excellently polished and beautiful sprite work. You owe it to yourself to check it out!

The controls and game loop are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sublime. Probably the best single player shooter I've ever played. Rivals Bioshock and HL2, despite the lack of story and puzzles. Controversial, I know!

Absolutely sublime!

Graphics, sound design, story, atmosphere, etc, are great.

However, the real star of the show is the game-play. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great! I've never played a shooter that requires so much tactical thought and offers so much choice, whilst still retaining the feel of a solid first-person shooter. Enemies are unique and interesting and always pose a different challenge. It constantly has you scavenging for health and ammo, using the environment, and barely making it out of each scrape alive. Best played on hardest difficulty. Ubisoft, take note - this is how you make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game lol

I want to like this game, but it's giving me a real hard time. I bought it on sale for a few quid. The graphics are stunning. The soundtrack is breath-taking. The writing and voice acting are on point. But there's some glaring problems with bad game design that really stunt the experience.

Some escort missions take a really long time to complete, and if you die, you have to start them all the way from the beginning, having to watch huge loading screens and cut-scenes all over again.

The fighting also feels heavy and unresponsive at times. Some enemies can teleport off camera and attack without telegraphing attacks, mobbing you into a corner. People will sometimes just attack you the instant a cut-scene ends without giving you chance to prepare yourself. Certain mission areas also don't give you a clear direction of where to go. You can be confused about whether something's an invisible wall or is passable.

Sometimes, it's incredibly difficult to do something as simple as press the context button on a sign, because the player slowly accelerates with turn rate and animation transitions, making fine-tuned and simple tasks difficult, as everything has this weighty feel of inertia behind it. This certainly creates a realistic world, but at the expense of UX, responsiveness and ergonomic design. These might seem like minor gripes, but they are unrelenting throughout the experience.

If you like polished, responsive games like TF2, Overwatch, Dota or Starcraft, or like the vastly superior combat system of, say, Breath of the Wild, you may find this game very aggravating. However, if you like big carbohydratey soupy games like Bethesda titles, etc, then this will be right up your street and provide hundreds of hours of gameplay, even if the gameplay's a bit dull and grindy.

But above all else, it's just kind of.... boring.
